Frank Geelen’s 2011 review describes a 39 mm Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Geographic that makes its second time zone unusually easy to select and read: choose a city on the ring, then read the corresponding time on a separate subdial with a 24-hour day/night indicator. The watch he reviewed was an 18-carat pink-gold example; the article says a steel version was also available. Its 43-hour reserve and other specifications belong to that earlier generation, not to the current 40 mm Master Control Geographic Q4128421.
What Geelen reviewed
Frank Geelen’s Monochrome Watches article, published on 14 September 2011, reports that Jaeger-LeCoultre lent him the rose-gold watch for several weeks. His review concerns a 39 mm Master Geographic in 18-carat pink gold, with a polished three-part case, screw-down back, sapphire display back, and alligator strap with folding buckle. The article says a stainless-steel version was also available. Geelen gives the watch a water-resistance rating of 5 ATM (50 m). Read the 2011 review.
How the second time zone works
The central hands show local hours, minutes, and seconds. A separate subdial displays the second zone’s hours and minutes; a small 24-hour indicator distinguishes day from night. Around it, the city ring represents 24 time zones.
In Geelen’s account, the crown at 10 o’clock adjusts the city ring. He says the crown at 3 o’clock sets home and second-zone time, while a recessed pusher at 2 o’clock adjusts the date. The dial also includes a date display and a power-reserve indicator. The layout gives the world-time function a practical reading sequence: select the city, then consult its subdial and day/night indicator.

- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Geelen judged the second zone to be “one of the easiest to read and adjust on the market.” That is his assessment in a 2011 review, not the result of a standardized comparison across watches.
Movement and reported performance
Geelen identifies the movement as caliber 939 and lists 34 jewels, 310 parts, and a 43-hour power reserve. He also describes a 22-carat pink-gold rotor weight and says the Master Control line received 1,000-hour testing. The Jaeger-LeCoultre 2016–2017 Italian catalog calls the 39 mm generation caliber 939A, and lists 310 components, 28,800 vibrations per hour, and a 43-hour reserve. The difference in caliber naming is present in the sources and should not be silently treated as identical labeling. See the 2016–2017 Jaeger-LeCoultre catalog.

During his own test period, Geelen reports an average rate of +2 seconds per day. This is one reviewer’s observation of one borrowed watch in 2011, not a current laboratory result, a general performance claim, or a guarantee for another example.
What the review says about wearing it
Geelen praises the slim bezel, the detailing in the hands and subdials, and the visual depth created by the layered, recessed dial elements. He found it legible in bright daylight despite what he describes as limited contrast between the silvered dial and pink gold, and thought it suited both casual clothes and a suit. These are his impressions of the reviewed watch, rather than independently verified findings.

His stated criticism is low visibility in the dark: he found the luminous material on the hands and the small dots beside the hour markers “hardly noticeable.” That is a useful trade-off to weigh against the dial’s daylight legibility and detailed layout.

The historical review makes the strongest case for the watch as a travel complication with a clear, city-based way to identify a second zone. Its detailed dial and relatively restrained overall appearance appealed to Geelen, while the weakly visible lume was his main practical reservation. Anyone evaluating an example today should distinguish the generation and reference from the current Q4128421, and check the condition, service history, and exact configuration of that individual watch; the sources cited here establish historical specifications and current manufacturer-published specifications, not present availability or the condition of used examples.
