What the Lange 1 Moon Phase adds to the Lange 1
The dial keeps the Lange 1’s recognizable off-center arrangement and adds a moon-phase display that also indicates day and night. The moon moves across a blue daytime disc and a dark-blue night sky dotted with 383 stars, according to A. Lange & Söhne. The display sits alongside the outsize date and power-reserve indicator, giving the dial additional information without replacing the model’s established layout.
The moon-phase indication represents the lunar cycle; the day/night element gives that display a changing setting as the cycle progresses. The maker says an average lunar month lasts 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes and 3 seconds. A simplified moon-phase display often uses a 29.5-day cycle, while Lange says this one tracks the cycle with 99.998 per cent accuracy.

How accurate is the moon phase—and what if the watch stops?
A. Lange & Söhne writes: “The LANGE 1 MOON PHASE tracks the lunar cycle with an accuracy of 99.998 per cent.” The brand says a one-day correction is needed only after 122.6 years, assuming the watch runs without interruption. That is a manufacturer claim about continuous operation, not a promise that the display will remain correct when the watch is unworn and has stopped.

Because the 192.032 is hand-wound and has a stated 72-hour power reserve, it will eventually stop if it is not wound often enough to keep it running. Once stopped, the moon-phase indication may need to be reset along with the time. A Fratello reader review describes this as a practical ownership consideration; it is one reader’s perspective, not evidence that setting the display is universally difficult. How it wears and reads
A 2017 Hodinkee hands-on review described the 38.5 mm watch as comfortable and its dial as legible on the reviewer’s wrist. The reviewer also found the combined moon-phase and day/night execution more engaging than expected. Those are useful impressions from one wearer, not a guarantee of fit or readability for every wrist; trying the watch on is the best way to judge its proportions.
