Their clearest practical distinction is case metal—white gold for the 201.027, pink gold for the 201.033. The appeal is restraint on the dial and traditional movement finishing visible through the sapphire back; the trade-offs are a time-only display, a 3-bar water-resistance rating, and no established current price or availability in the published specifications.
What the Saxonia Thin is—and what this review covers
A. Lange & Söhne says the Saxonia Thin was introduced in 2011 and that the collection has appeared in 37, 39, and 40 mm diameters. This review focuses on the two documented 37 mm references, 201.027 and 201.033, rather than treating every Saxonia Thin variation as interchangeable. The manufacturer’s collection page also describes goldstone-dial variations from 2018 and 2020, and two 200-piece special editions presented in 2025: one in honey gold and one in platinum, each with a glossy black onyx dial. That presentation does not establish that those editions remain available.
The watch’s basic configuration is deliberately limited to hours and minutes. There is no date or additional complication listed for these references. That simplicity makes the case profile and movement the main points of interest, but it also means this is a dress-watch proposition rather than an all-purpose complication watch.
How the 201.027 and 201.033 differ
The two references share their core dimensions and movement specifications. The difference most directly relevant to choosing between them is the precious-metal case; the listed buckle material differs accordingly.

The practical choice is therefore primarily aesthetic: select the metal tone that suits your wardrobe and preference, rather than expecting a different movement or feature set between these two references.
Dimensions and wear implications
A notably slim profile
At 5.9 mm tall, the case is the defining physical characteristic of these references. The 37 mm diameter keeps the design compact by contemporary standards, while the low height is intended to sit discreetly beneath a cuff. These are official dimensions, not measurements from an independent wear test; fit and wrist presence will still depend on wrist shape, strap adjustment, and personal preference.

Case and dial details
A. Lange & Söhne describes a three-part case with curved lugs, polished chamfers, shaped hands, and baton appliques. Those details add definition to an otherwise spare display. The argenté dial presents the hours and minutes without a date aperture or subsidiary display, preserving the uncluttered layout. These are manufacturer-described design features, not a comparative assessment against other watches.
The L093.1 movement: compact, manual, and visible
The manually wound L093.1 has 167 parts, runs at 21,600 semi-oscillations per hour (3.0 Hz), and is specified with a 72-hour power reserve. A. Lange & Söhne lists the movement height as 2.9 mm on its collection page and describes the calibre as an in-house manufacture movement assembled twice. The long reserve means that, when fully wound, it can run for up to three days before it needs winding; actual timekeeping accuracy is not established by the available specifications.

A sapphire-glass case back exposes the movement. The manufacturer identifies traditional finishing details including a three-quarter plate, blued screws, gold chatons, polished chamfers, and solarised ratchet and crown wheels. The back makes these elements part of the ownership experience, rather than features hidden inside the case. Their presence is documented by the maker; no independent finishing comparison or accuracy test is available here.
Water resistance and strap considerations
Both references carry a 3-bar water-resistance specification. That rating should not be treated as a swimming, bathing, or water-sports recommendation; the product pages do not state such intended use. Buyers seeking a watch for regular water exposure should choose a model whose maker explicitly supports that use.

The listed strap is alligator leather. A. Lange & Söhne states that its straps comply with CITES and identifies the species as Alligator mississippiensis, farmed, Appendix II. Buyers should confirm any applicable import or travel requirements for their destination rather than assume wildlife-trade rules are identical everywhere.

Choose the 201.027 for white gold
The 201.027 combines its white-gold case and buckle with the shared argenté dial and L093.1 movement. It is the natural option if you want the case to read cooler or less warmly colored against the dial.

Choose the 201.033 for pink gold
The 201.033 uses pink gold for the case and buckle, while retaining the same dimensions, dial, and movement as the 201.027. It suits a preference for a warmer metal tone, without changing the listed mechanical specification.
Consider the wider collection separately
The collection includes other diameters and dial treatments, but the specifications of the 37 mm references should not be projected onto every variation. The manufacturer’s 2025 page describes 200-piece honey-gold and platinum editions with black glossy onyx dials; verify their current status and availability directly before treating them as purchasable options.
