A U.S. patent application published on July 16, 2026, describes a smart ring that can be made tighter or looser by turning a mechanical drive. But the applicant is Huzhou Luxshare Precision Industry Co., Ltd., not Xiaomi. The filing does not confirm that Xiaomi is developing, launching, or using the design in a product.
How the proposed adjustment mechanism works
The application, titled “Intelligent Wearable Device,” describes a ring built around an inner frame and a flexible belt. An adjusting assembly acts on the belt, while a connected driving assembly turns the mechanism. The patent names cams as part of the arrangement.
Turning the drive in one direction presses the belt inward, reducing the opening. Turning it the other way lets the belt elastically return outward, increasing the opening. The filing also describes optional cushioning between the belt and adjustment assembly. It does not establish whether the external control would be a dial, rotating ring section, or another physical interface.
This is user-adjusted sizing, not evidence of a ring that detects a finger’s dimensions and resizes itself. The patent does not describe autonomous sensing, motorized adjustment, app control, or continuous resizing while worn. The published patent record and the U.S. publication set out the proposed mechanism, not a production-ready product.

Why adjustable fit could matter for a smart ring
The patent presents fixed sizing as a challenge: manufacturers need multiple sizes, and a single inner diameter may not remain comfortable as a wearer’s finger changes. Heat, hydration, inflammation, pregnancy, weight changes, and other factors can affect finger dimensions. The filing also raises the possibility that a poor fit can reduce consistency of skin contact for health measurements. These are the patent’s engineering motivations, not independent clinical findings about this design.
More consistent contact is a plausible aim for optical or temperature sensors, but the patent supplies no accuracy tests, comparison data, skin-contact measurements, or clinical validation. It therefore supports saying that adjustable fit is intended to help maintain contact—not that the ring would produce more accurate readings.

What health sensors does the filing mention?
Possible sensor embodiments include at least two of heart-rate, blood-oxygen, and temperature sensing. Those are possibilities described in the patent, not confirmed specifications for a Xiaomi product. A commercial device could omit some or all of them.
Why the Xiaomi connection is unconfirmed
The U.S. application is number 19/089,664, with Chinese priority application 2025201012940 dated January 15, 2025. It was filed in the United States on March 25, 2025, and published on July 16, 2026. The listed applicant is Huzhou Luxshare Precision Industry Co., Ltd.; Jingren Cao and Xin Tian are listed as inventors. Xiaomi is not named in the applicant, inventor, or patent-history information in the record.

A supplier relationship or possible future customer relationship cannot be established from this filing alone. The document uses a smart ring as an example, but does not identify Xiaomi as the customer, brand, licensee, or intended commercial partner. The careful conclusion is that a Luxshare patent describes an adjustable smart ring; whether Xiaomi or another wearable brand will use it is unknown.
How this differs from other adjustable-ring patent ideas
Adjustable sizing is not unique to this filing. A Huawei patent describes a split inner ring and outer ring that can be set to multiple diameters using locking features and toothed sections. Huawei’s patent publication outlines that approach.

An Oura patent application describes an inner housing moving relative to an outer housing to change the inner circumference while keeping the outer circumference unchanged. It also discusses expandable components and sensor-parameter changes associated with different sizes. Oura’s patent application is another example of efforts to address fit. These filings describe concepts; they do not establish that the mechanisms are commercial products.

A working product would have to balance fit adjustment with the practical demands of a compact wearable. These are questions for a future product evaluation, not established defects in the patented design:

What the patent does not tell us about a Xiaomi ring
There is no verified Xiaomi product name, model number, launch date, price, size range, battery life, water-resistance rating, phone compatibility, operating-system support, software integration, or country availability in this patent record. Publication of a patent application does not guarantee commercialization.
Evidence of an actual Xiaomi product would need to come from a Xiaomi announcement or other product-level confirmation, such as a relevant regulatory filing, certification, app support, or retail listing. Until then, this is a mechanical design proposal—not a confirmed Xiaomi smart ring.
