The Alpina Alpiner Extreme Chronograph Automatic is a steel-bracelet chronograph offered in silver and navy dial versions. Alpina lists both US references at $3,395, with an automatic AL-730 movement and a 62-hour power reserve. One important caveat: Alpina’s US and European pages give conflicting case dimensions for the silver reference, so the published figures do not support a single definitive case-size claim.
Which references are covered?
Alpina’s US listings identify two dial variants: silver reference AL-730SB4AE6B and navy reference AL-730NS4AE6B. The US pages list each at $3,395 at the time reflected in the consulted listings; prices and availability can change. Alpina’s European English-language page for the silver reference showed €3,295 for its Finland storefront at the time indexed. That is regional pricing, not a universal euro price or a direct conversion of the US price.
| Reference | Dial | Listed price and region | Notable dial description |
|---|---|---|---|
| AL-730SB4AE6B | Silver | $3,395 on Alpina’s US page; €3,295 on the Finland storefront of Alpina’s European page when indexed | Triangle pattern, luminous applied indices, three counters, and a date window between 4 and 5 o’clock |
| AL-730NS4AE6B | Navy | $3,395 on Alpina’s US page | Navy triangle pattern with contrasting counters |
Prices are manufacturer-listed regional figures, not a statement of current stock or retailer pricing. Alpina US: silver AL-730SB4AE6B; Alpina US: navy AL-730NS4AE6B; Alpina Finland: silver AL-730SB4AE6B.
What specifications does Alpina list?
Movement and chronograph
Alpina describes an automatic AL-730 chronograph with a 62-hour power reserve. Its European page identifies the movement as based on SW510 and specifies 27 jewels and a frequency of 28,800 alternations per hour. The US product pages do not provide those additional movement details. These are manufacturer specifications; the cited pages do not include independent movement testing.

#1 Best Overall
- The Alpiner Extreme Chronograph Automatic features the AL-730 caliber, automatic movement with a 62-hour power reserve
- Brushed and polished stainless steel 41mm
- Folding buckle and push buttons
- Anti-Reflective Sapphire Crystal and engraved see-through case-back
- 100M Water Resistant and 2 Year Limited Warranty
Case, crystal and water resistance
The US listings specify a stainless-steel case and bracelet, anti-reflective sapphire crystal, and 100 m water resistance. The European silver-reference page specifies 316L steel and 10 ATM water resistance. Those ratings are the manufacturer’s published descriptions; no independent water-resistance test is established here.
Dial and display
Both versions have a triangle-pattern dial, luminous hands and indices, three chronograph counters, and a date display, according to Alpina’s product descriptions. The silver page places the date between 4 and 5 o’clock. Counter contrast differs between the silver and navy references, with the navy version described as having contrasting counters.

Dimensions and bracelet width
The published dimensions conflict for the silver reference. Alpina’s US technical panel gives 42.5 mm case length and 11.5 mm thickness; its European page gives a 41 x 42.5 mm case and 14.3 mm height. The available official pages do not explain whether this reflects different measurement conventions, data records, or a product revision. The navy US panel lists 42.5 mm case length, 11.5 mm thickness, and a 16 mm lug width. The European silver page lists a 16 mm strap lock. Ask Alpina to clarify the dimensions before using them to assess fit or compare case thickness with another watch.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How should it be judged against other integrated-bracelet chronographs?
The Alpiner combines an integrated steel bracelet, a patterned dial, an automatic chronograph, and manufacturer-stated 100 m/10 ATM water resistance. Those traits help describe its position, but they do not by themselves establish that it is larger, thinner, more capable, or better value than another integrated-bracelet sports chronograph. A fair comparison needs independently verified specifications for each alternative and, especially here, a resolved case measurement.

- Fit: compare verified case length, width, thickness, and bracelet articulation. Do not treat the conflicting silver-reference dimensions as interchangeable.
- Movement: compare the movement architecture and stated reserve on the same basis; Alpina’s European page supplies the SW510 base, 27 jewels, and 28,800 alternations per hour.
- Chronograph readability: inspect counter contrast and the arrangement of the date and counters, not just the number of subdials.
- Water resistance: compare the manufacturer ratings, while distinguishing a published rating from independent testing.
- Bracelet and alternatives: assess the bracelet itself and confirm any claimed strap compatibility. A stated 16 mm width alone does not verify fit with third-party straps or bracelets.
- Price and support: use the price for the relevant region and check warranty and service access with the seller or Alpina; the cited product pages do not establish a complete competitor or service comparison.
