ANONIMO says it was founded in Florence in 1997, later moved its headquarters to Switzerland, and now sells watches under three collections: MILITARE, NAUTILO and EPURATO. Its own history supports a story of Italian roots and a Swiss base—not a separately documented “rebirth” event. Here’s what happened to the brand and how its current watches differ.

What happened to ANONIMO watches?

According to ANONIMO’s official history, the company was founded in Florence in 1997 and became known for professional diving watches. The brand says its watches were used by members of the Cooperativa Nazionale Sommozzatori and describes the PROFESSIONALE as a deep-diving model. It also identifies the MILITARE, with its distinctive crown guard, as one of its emblematic lines.

The official account says military engineer Dino Zei joined in 2003 and developed the NAUTILO line. ANONIMO further says it moved its headquarters to Switzerland in 2013, uses Swiss movements, and complies with the Swiss Made label. In 2018, it added EPURATO, a collection presented as a more refined, urban design.

That chronology explains the brand’s Florentine origins and Swiss base. The available official account does not establish a distinct corporate event called a “rebirth,” nor does it independently document the company’s ownership history. ANONIMO’s history is the source for these milestones.

Where are ANONIMO watches made, and are they Swiss Made?

ANONIMO describes its watches as Swiss Made and says its headquarters moved to Switzerland in 2013. It frames the brand as combining its Italian origins with Swiss watchmaking. This is the company’s own description; individual product pages should be checked for the movement and technical details of a particular reference.

The brand identifies Sellita as the maker of its Swiss automatic mechanical movements. It names the SW200-1 for NAUTILO and EPURATO, and the SW300-1 with a Dubois-Dépraz chronograph module for the MILITARE Chrono. Those details should not be generalized to every watch in each collection.

What collections does ANONIMO sell today?

The official catalog organizes its watches into three collections. The catalog includes different sizes and versions, as well as collection-specific straps; listings can include sold-out editions, so appearing in the catalog does not necessarily mean a watch is available to buy.

  • MILITARE: The brand’s emblematic line, associated with its crown-protection design. The catalog includes automatic and chronograph models.
  • NAUTILO: ANONIMO’s diver collection, with 42 mm models among the current listings.
  • EPURATO: The urban collection, introduced in 2018 and offered in steel and bronze editions.

What is the difference between MILITARE and NAUTILO?

These two official product pages illustrate the difference, but their specifications are examples—not specifications shared by every watch in either collection. The model prices below are the CHF prices listed on the pages reviewed; they are snapshots and may change.

Straps, warranty and service

ANONIMO’s catalog lists straps for particular collections and models, including Nautilo sizes and a MILITARE Chrono Vintage strap. That strap page describes a quick-change barrette and compatibility with MILITARE cases, but strap fit is reference- and size-specific. Confirm compatibility with the exact watch before ordering.

The brand’s service-center page lists contacts for the EU, United States, Switzerland and other regions. ANONIMO says its international warranty lasts 24 months from purchase; registering the watch adds 12 months, for 36 months total. Check the current warranty terms and registration requirements with the brand before relying on the extension.
