It is a good fit for iPhone owners who value a light, readable watch and accept a daily charging routine; fast charging makes that routine easier, not unnecessary.
The meaningful choices are 42mm or 46mm, aluminum or titanium, and GPS or GPS + Cellular. Choose based on wrist fit, display preference, finish, and whether you need connectivity away from your iPhone.
The short version
- Best for: iPhone owners who want a slim, capable everyday Apple Watch with a larger screen.
- Main trade-off: Apple’s estimated battery life remains up to 18 hours, so plan to charge daily.
- Choose 42mm or 46mm: the 42mm model has a 989mm² screen area and weighs 30g in aluminum GPS; the 46mm has a 1,220mm² screen area and weighs 36.4g in aluminum GPS. Apple’s figures exclude the band.
- Buy GPS + Cellular only if you want supported connectivity away from your iPhone and are prepared to check carrier and plan requirements.
What changed with Series 10?
Apple announced Series 10 on September 9, 2024, and availability began September 20, 2024. Apple describes it as nearly 10% thinner than Series 7, 8, and 9, with up to 9% more active screen area than those models. Those are Apple’s comparisons, not independent measurements in this review.
MacRumors reviewer Joe Rossignol described the watch as light and thin enough to fit under jacket cuffs and remain unobtrusive during exercise. That is an attributed review impression, not our hands-on testing. MacRumors also noted launch features including faster charging, built-in speaker audio, voice isolation, and the Depth and Tides apps.

Sizes, weight, and materials
Series 10 comes in 42mm and 46mm cases, each 9.7mm thick. Apple lists aluminum and titanium options, with GPS and GPS + Cellular configurations. The technical weights below are for aluminum GPS models; other configurations differ.
| Case size | Screen area | Aluminum GPS weight | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|---|
| 42mm | 989mm² | 30g | Wrist fit or a smaller-looking watch |
| 46mm | 1,220mm² | 36.4g | A larger display and more room for on-screen information |
Apple Support lists the dimensions and weights; the band adds weight. If possible, try the case size with the band you intend to wear, since comfort matters for all-day use.
| Choice | Consider it if | Check before buying |
|---|---|---|
| Aluminum | You prefer the aluminum finishes or a lighter configuration. | Exact case size and GPS or GPS + Cellular configuration. |
| Titanium | You prefer the titanium finishes and construction. | Configuration weight and finish; material does not change the daily charging requirement. |
| GPS | You generally have your iPhone with you. | Whether the watch’s connectivity suits your usual routine. |
| GPS + Cellular | You want supported connectivity away from your iPhone. | Carrier support, coverage, activation, and any plan requirements in your region. |
Apple says 41mm and 45mm bands from older watches fit the new 42mm and 46mm Series 10 cases. Check Apple’s compatibility guidance before buying other accessories.
Display and everyday comfort
The larger active display is one of Series 10’s key changes over earlier standard models. Apple says it offers up to 9% more active screen area than Series 7, 8, and 9. The 46mm model’s 1,220mm² screen area gives readers who want more display space a clear reason to choose the larger case.

Apple Watch Series 10 battery life and charging
Apple advertises up to 18 hours of all-day battery life and up to 36 hours in Low Power Mode. Its 18-hour test includes 300 time checks, 90 notifications, 15 minutes of app use, and a 60-minute workout with Bluetooth music. Apple says actual results vary with use, configuration, network, signal, and other factors. Treat these as manufacturer estimates under specified conditions, not a guaranteed runtime.
Apple says Series 10 can reach 80% charge in about 30 minutes under its test protocol. The box includes a one-meter USB-C magnetic charging cable; Apple’s charging tests used a 20W USB-C adapter, which is not listed as included. Fast charging can help fit a top-up into a short break, but it does not remove the need to charge regularly.
Tom’s Guide currently calls Series 10 its best Apple Watch for most people while flagging its 18-hour rating and daily charging as downsides. That is the outlet’s current recommendation and may change.

Water resistance and limits
Apple rates Series 10 as water resistant to 50 meters and permits shallow-water swimming and snorkeling. It includes depth and water-temperature sensing, but Apple says not to use it for scuba diving, water skiing, high-velocity water, or deep submersion. Water resistance can diminish over time, so follow Apple’s care and use guidance rather than treating the rating as a guarantee of suitability for every water activity.
Software and compatibility
Series 10 supports watchOS 11 at launch. Apple’s launch announcement said watchOS 11 required iPhone XS or later running iOS 18, with features varying by device and region. Tom’s Guide’s current buying guide reports that Series 10 has since upgraded to watchOS 26. Check Apple’s current compatibility information and the requirements for the specific features you want before purchase.

Final verdict
Apple Watch Series 10 is a refined choice for iPhone owners who want a slimmer everyday watch and a larger display. Apple’s specifications and MacRumors’ attributed review impressions support its appeal as a comfortable daily-wear design, while Apple’s battery estimate remains the central compromise.
Buy it for the case, screen, and charging convenience if those matter to you. If you want to avoid daily charging, compare current alternatives before buying rather than expecting fast charging to turn Series 10 into a long-endurance watch.
