How long does the battery last?
Apple estimates up to 24 hours of battery life with normal use and up to 38 hours in Low Power Mode. It also says 15 minutes of charging can provide up to eight hours of normal use, and that reaching 80% charge takes about 30 minutes. These are Apple’s test-dependent estimates, not guaranteed runtimes; actual battery life varies with use and settings.
What is new in Series 11’s health and software features?
Hypertension notifications
Series 11, running watchOS 26, can use optical heart-sensor data to look for signs of hypertension over time. Apple describes a 30-day review period and says the feature will not detect every instance. A notification is a screening alert, not a diagnosis. Apple advises anyone who receives one to take blood pressure readings with a third-party cuff for seven days and share the results with a healthcare provider.

Apple says the notification algorithm was developed using training data from studies totaling more than 100,000 participants and validated in a clinical study involving more than 2,000 participants. Those figures describe Apple’s development and validation account; they are not independent findings reported by the cited source.
Sleep score and other health features
watchOS 26 adds sleep score. Apple says its sleep-score algorithms were developed and tested using more than five million nights of Apple Heart and Movement Study data. Other health features Apple lists include ECG, irregular rhythm notifications, high- and low-heart-rate notifications, Blood Oxygen, sleep apnea notifications, and retrospective ovulation estimates. Availability can depend on device and region.

Workout Buddy and watchOS 26
Workout Buddy uses Apple Intelligence and requires an Apple Intelligence-supported iPhone nearby and Bluetooth headphones. Apple says it is available in English for selected popular workout types. watchOS 26 also adds a wrist-flick gesture, updated watch faces, and other changes. Apple’s launch announcement says watchOS 26 requires an iPhone 11 or later running iOS 26; not every feature is available on every device or in every region.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is Series 11 suitable for swimming?
Apple rates Apple Watch Series 11 as water resistant to 50 meters under ISO 22810:2010 and dust resistant to IP6X. “Water resistant” is the appropriate description; Apple does not call it waterproof.
Safety features Apple lists include Emergency SOS, international emergency calling, Crash Detection, Fall Detection, noise monitoring, and Backtrack.
Which Series 11 configuration should you choose?
- Choose a size by wrist fit and preference: Apple’s stated fit ranges are 130–200 mm for 42mm and 140–245 mm for 46mm. The larger case has a larger display and is heavier in each listed material/configuration.
- Choose aluminum or titanium for the material and crystal: Aluminum is offered in four colors and uses Ion-X cover glass; polished titanium is offered in three colors and uses sapphire crystal. The weights differ by size and configuration, as shown above.
- Choose GPS or GPS + Cellular based on phone independence: Cellular capability supports calls and messages away from an iPhone only with an eligible cellular plan. Carrier support and plan terms vary, so check those with your carrier before buying.
- Decide whether the new health features matter to you: Hypertension notifications are not a diagnosis and can miss cases; feature availability also varies by region and device.
Before purchasing, compare the exact size, material, and connectivity configuration, then verify the seller’s current price, stock, and warranty. The $399 figure above is Apple’s U.S. launch starting price, not a current offer.
