What the Deepstar II is—and what it is not
Aquastar describes the Deepstar II as “the Deepstar that could have been back in 1967”: an imagined successor to the original that removes the chronograph complication while retaining the Deepstar case shape, decompression bezel and signature mono sub-dial. That is the maker’s framing, rather than a claim that this is a reissue of a specific historical production model. The Deepstar II is a three-hand watch with hours, minutes and small seconds; it is not a chronograph.
The small-seconds register sits at 9 o’clock in the distinctive counter, while the rotating bezel carries a table intended for successive-dive no-decompression calculations. Those features give the II a recognizably Deepstar layout without the chronograph pushers and timing complication of the sibling model.

WatchTime identifies the movement as the SW290-1 and gives a 38-hour power reserve. Aquastar’s retrieved product text names the SW290 but does not state a reserve, so confirm the movement designation and reserve for the exact variant if that figure matters to your decision.
How the bezel is intended to work
Aquastar describes the bidirectional bezel’s markings as a mechanical aid for calculating no-decompression limits on successive dives, using French Navy tables. It is a maker-described timing/calculation feature, not evidence that the watch substitutes for current dive planning, training, applicable tables or dive-computer procedures. The available product information does not establish independent dive-safety certification or independently tested underwater performance.

The key buying choice is therefore functional, not just visual: pick the II for the three-hand format and small seconds, or the Chronograph if you want a chronograph. Do not assume their dimensions, prices or included straps match; compare the exact product pages.
Variants, straps and price
Aquastar’s family listing surfaces Steel Grey, Vintage Black, Blue Ray and limited variants where available. Configurations include a steel beads-of-rice bracelet, seatbelt NATO options and a custom-made Tropic strap option. These are not necessarily interchangeable bundles: verify the selected variant’s dial, included strap or bracelet, stock and shipping on Aquastar’s live product page.

A German Aquastar storefront search result displayed $1,890 for several Deepstar II variants when retrieved in 2026. That is a storefront observation, not a guaranteed quote for every configuration or region, and prices and stock can change.
