The Ball Roadmaster Marine GMT combines a patented one-hour quick-set GMT mechanism with manufacturer-rated 300m water resistance and a substantial titanium-and-steel bracelet. The current official 42mm listing is US$3,499 with import duties included; its 14.55mm thickness and roughly 49.7mm lug-to-lug span make exact-reference fit worth checking before buying. These specifications belong to the current 42mm configuration, not the older 40mm model covered by an earlier hands-on review.
What the current 42mm Roadmaster Marine GMT offers
Ball’s current 42mm product page lists the automatic RR1203-C caliber, COSC chronometer certification and a patented quick-set mechanism for indicating three time zones. The display includes hours, minutes, sweep seconds, day and date. Ball describes the independent GMT hand as adjustable in one-hour increments; this is the specific operating distinction to focus on rather than assuming it behaves like every conventional traveler or office GMT. Ball Watch Company’s current product listing identifies the exact configuration and features.
For the displayed 42mm reference, Ball lists a titanium case, bidirectional ceramic bezel with Super-LumiNova, anti-reflective sapphire crystal, screw-in crown and tapered titanium/stainless-steel bracelet. The page specifies 30 micro gas tubes for this 42mm configuration; other current listings surfaced with 29, so the count should be checked against the precise reference rather than generalized across the range.
Dimensions and price: distinguish the 42mm and 40mm versions
| Specification | Current official 42mm configuration | Older 40mm version reviewed by Time+Tide |
|---|---|---|
| Case diameter | 42mm (Ball Watch Company, current product page, accessed 2026) | 40mm (Time+Tide review) |
| Thickness | 14.55mm (Ball Watch Company, current product page, accessed 2026) | 14mm (Time+Tide review) |
| Lug-to-lug | Approximately 49.7mm (Ball Watch Company, current product page, accessed 2026) | 51mm (Time+Tide review) |
| Lug width | 20mm (Ball Watch Company, current product page, accessed 2026) | Not stated (Time+Tide review) |
| Weight | Approximately 160g (Ball Watch Company, current product page, accessed 2026) | Not stated (Time+Tide review) |
| Price cited | US$3,499, import duties included on Ball’s displayed 42mm listing (accessed 2026; check the live page and buying market) | US$3,249 at the time of Time+Tide’s review; historical, not current pricing |
The different proportions matter: the reviewed 40mm model is narrower by diameter but has the longer reported lug-to-lug measurement. Do not use diameter alone to predict how either version will sit. Case thickness, wrist shape, bracelet drape and the side-mounted GMT pushers all affect the experience, and dimensions cannot settle individual fit without trying the exact reference.

Time+Tide describes the watch’s look as industrial and notes how closely its character is tied to the bracelet. Its observation that the side pushers and dimensions merit consideration is useful context, but it concerns the older 40mm version rather than a hands-on assessment of every current configuration. Time+Tide’s review also reports an ETA 2893-2 base with Ball’s GMT module, a 38-hour power reserve and COSC certification for the version it covered; those details should not be presumed unchanged for every later reference.
How the GMT adjustment works
Ball calls the Marine GMT’s three-time-zone indication a patented quick-set mechanism. Fratello describes the independent GMT hand as moving forward or backward in one-hour steps. That lets the wearer adjust the GMT indication without treating the watch simply as a standard local-hour-jumping traveler GMT. The available descriptions establish the one-hour adjustment behavior, but do not justify broader claims about every setting interaction or a universal comparison with other GMT movement types.

For a narrow comparison, Fratello’s discussion of the Marine and Pilot models identifies the Marine’s one-hour independent quick-set GMT adjustment and its 300m water-resistance rating. That makes the Marine the more explicitly marine-rated option on those cited axes; it does not establish an overall winner across the two watches. Fratello’s Marine-versus-Pilot discussion provides that comparison.
Marine specifications and what they do—and do not—prove
Ball lists 300m/1,000ft water resistance, 4,800 A/m anti-magnetism and 5,000 G shock resistance for the current 42mm listing. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results established here. The screw-in crown is part of the stated construction; the owner manual emphasizes screwing the crown back in to preserve water resistance.

Ball’s current official listing also identifies the model as a limited edition of 1,000. Confirm the exact reference and availability with the seller, since edition information and product-page configurations may differ across listings.
Bracelet fit, adjustment and wrist comfort
The current 42mm listing gives a tapered titanium-and-stainless bracelet, 20mm lug width and approximately 160g weight. Taper and weight contribute to how a watch wears, but the listed dimensions do not establish whether it will feel balanced on a particular wrist. The older review’s longer 51mm lug-to-lug figure is a reminder to check the measurements for the precise version being considered.

One watch-community commenter wished for micro-adjustment on a hot day. That is a single wearer’s preference, not evidence of a recurring defect or consensus. If wrist swelling and fine bracelet sizing matter to you, ask the retailer specifically about the clasp’s available adjustment and try the watch at a time and fit that reflect your normal wear. For a strap change, confirm 20mm compatibility for the exact 42mm reference before buying; the width alone does not establish end-link or hardware fit.

Ball’s 2025 owner manual covers winding and setting procedures. Follow the instructions for your exact reference, and ensure the crown is screwed back in after use to maintain the watch’s stated water resistance. Manual steps can vary by model, so the manual is a better guide than assuming that every Roadmaster variant uses identical controls. Ball’s 2025 owner manual is the relevant reference.

Who should consider the Roadmaster Marine GMT?
It is a plausible fit for a buyer who wants a distinctive industrial-style GMT, values an independently adjustable one-hour GMT hand and wants a high manufacturer-stated water-resistance rating. The trade-offs are a notably thick case, a bracelet whose adjustment details should be verified, and a price that varies by date, reference and market. Before ordering, match the listing to the case size and reference you want, then confirm its dimensions, GMT operation, tube count, live price and seller terms.
Ball’s official product pages surfaced a 24-month international warranty and a possible registration-based extension, with exclusions including some wear items and misuse. Warranty terms depend on the purchase region and applicable conditions; verify the current warranty page and regional terms with Ball or the authorized seller before relying on coverage. Service intervals, repair prices and replacement-parts availability are not established by the product information cited here.
