Baltic’s 2023 HMS 003 and Bicompax 003 share a compact 36.5mm steel step case, but they serve different purposes: the HMS is a three-hand automatic, while the Bicompax is a hand-wound chronograph. Both measure 46mm lug to lug, 13mm thick including the domed hesalite crystal, and 20mm between the lugs. The HMS 003 remains listed by Baltic; the company says the Bicompax collection left its catalogue on April 1, 2025.
What are the Baltic HMS 003 and Bicompax 003 case dimensions?
The 003 generation brought both watches into a 36.5mm case, with the same 46mm lug-to-lug span, 13mm overall thickness including crystal, and 20mm lug width. Baltic lists the thickness as 10mm without the crystal. The cases are 316L stainless steel, topped with high-domed hesalite, and both are rated to 50m (5ATM).

The shared case is a step case: Baltic describes its construction as a single piece of steel, with horizontal brushing on the case middle, circular brushing on the lugs, and a polished bezel. The company says the design takes inspiration from the 1940s. The 50m rating is a specification, not a guarantee that either watch is suitable for every water sport.
What is the difference between the HMS 003 and the Bicompax 003?
The main distinction is mechanical and functional. HMS 003 is a conventional three-hand watch with an automatic movement; Bicompax 003 adds a chronograph and requires manual winding. The 2023 launch report described the smaller case and redesigned dials as changes for the 003 generation, and noted improvements to the HMS movement.

HMS 003: automatic, three-hand simplicity
The HMS 003 uses the Miyota 8315, an automatic movement that Baltic says was designed in Japan by Miyota. Its stated power reserve is 60 hours. It is the more straightforward choice if you want timekeeping without a chronograph or a daily hand-winding routine.
Bicompax 003: manual winding and a chronograph
The Bicompax 003 uses the hand-wound Seagull ST1901. Its chronograph measures elapsed time up to 30 minutes, alongside the standard time display and small seconds. Baltic gives the movement a 42-hour reserve. Its extra function and different winding routine are the practical trade-offs compared with the HMS.

How do the dials and colorways differ?
In July 2023, Monochrome Watches reported three dial combinations for the models: silver with blue accents, salmon with silver accents, and blue with gilt accents. The launch report described brushed or grained sector dials, polished leaf-shaped hands and a railroad minute track. On the Bicompax, the two subdials have azurage finishing. These are launch-era design details; specific colors and variants may not be available through current retail channels.

Not as a current catalogue model, according to Baltic. Its official archive says the Bicompax collection would leave the catalogue on April 1, 2025, and that it was sold until April 2025. A new watch may still appear through a retailer or on the secondary market, but availability and condition need to be checked with the seller; the archive does not establish current new-stock inventory.

The HMS 003, by contrast, remained on Baltic’s official product site at the time its specifications were reviewed in 2026. That listing is not a guarantee of stock or a particular price, so check the product page before buying.
What did the two watches cost at launch?
Monochrome Watches reported the following launch prices in July 2023. These are historical prices, excluding taxes, not current quotes. The report also listed an optional open caseback for EUR 30.

Which 003 fits your use?
- Choose the HMS 003 if you prefer automatic timekeeping, a three-hand display and the longer stated reserve, and want to check a model Baltic still lists.
- Look for the Bicompax 003 if a hand-wound chronograph is the priority and you are comfortable buying an archived model through a retailer or the secondary market.
Both share the same compact case measurements and core materials, so the decision rests chiefly on movement, chronograph function, dial preference and whether the discontinued Bicompax can be found in suitable condition.
