What is the Bausele OceanMoon IV?
Time+Tide’s Nick Kenyon described the OceanMoon IV as a refined entry in Bausele’s dive-watch collection, which the brand had carried for more than a decade by 2021. The public model adapted a design used for a centenary watch created for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), according to Bausele’s history.
The watch pairs a substantial steel case with a compressor-inspired arrangement of two screw-down crowns. One operates the internally rotating dive bezel; the design keeps the bezel inside the case rather than exposing it as an external ring. The review also notes a caseback depicting the moon over the ocean and a chamber in one crown containing Australian material.

Why the OceanMoon IV has Australian design roots
Bausele’s history says the RAAF Chief, Mel Hupfeld, gave the brand a piece of the first FA-18 assembled in Australia for the RAAF Aviator centenary project. Bausele says the public OceanMoon IV adapted that project watch, retaining its anti-magnetic case and twin screw-down crowns while changing the crown-chamber elements and introducing new dial colours.

That account supports the watch’s Australian design and brand context. It does not, by itself, establish where every OceanMoon IV component was made or where the finished watch was assembled. Bausele’s current general FAQ describes its watches as assembled in its workshop, with Swiss-sourced movements and components made to its specifications by suppliers; that present-day description is not specific evidence about the OceanMoon IV’s production geography in 2021.
Is the OceanMoon IV suitable for the beach?
Its reported 200m water resistance, screw-down crowns and dive bezel make the OceanMoon IV’s specifications relevant to swimming and other water use. The 200m figure here comes from Time+Tide’s 2021 review, not from an independent test or a current OceanMoon IV-specific statement by Bausele. A rating alone does not establish suitability for every activity or condition.

Bausele’s current care guidance says to screw the crown down tightly before submerging the watch and to rinse away salt or sand with fresh water after swimming in the ocean. Its separate claim that all current Elemental and Sydney Diver models are rated to 200m/20 ATM applies to those named ranges, not to the historical OceanMoon IV.
What the review says about wearing it
Time+Tide characterizes the OceanMoon IV as substantial rather than slim, and suggests it could work as an everyday watch or be kept for the beach. The review highlights the bold stencil-style markers as a legibility feature and notes white and green dial examples among the five regular-production references. These are the reviewer’s descriptions, not independent measurements of case profile or dial legibility.

2021 price and availability context
Time+Tide listed a launch-era RRP of AUD$1,200 and reported production limited to 100 pieces per colourway. Those figures describe the watch as covered in 2021, not a current price or a statement of present stock. Current OceanMoon IV availability and resale value are not established by the cited pages.
