The Bedat & Co N°8 is best understood as a collection, not one watch. Its defining design idea is an integrated crown that keeps the case outline visually clean, paired with figure-eight details that echo the collection’s name. One particularly striking example is reference 888.018.310, a discontinued automatic model described in 2017; its specifications and availability should not be assumed to apply to every N°8.
What makes the Bedat & Co N°8 distinctive?
On reference 888.018.310, the crown is integrated into the case middle rather than projecting in the usual way. That makes the side profile look unusually uninterrupted. Figure-eight motifs carry the collection identity across the dial and crown area, while the restrained “AUTOMATIC” lettering and double-date windows give this reference its own dial character. Gerard Nijenbrinks highlighted the integrated crown in his 2017 Fratello account of the watch.

The design is more than a single case shape or movement. Bedat & Co’s official N°8 collection page shows round and circle-in-cushion cases, different sizes and complications, and distinct materials and dial treatments. A brochure search excerpt also associates the collection with repeated figure-eight detailing, but the brochure could not be opened directly; the product-specific design details here are therefore grounded in the cited reference rather than treated as a universal specification.

These are editorially reported details rather than current manufacturer specifications for every N°8. The article does not establish the reference’s lug dimensions, so a replacement strap or clasp should be matched by measurement and fit rather than appearance alone.
N°8 is a family, not a single specification
Bedat & Co’s official collection page lists examples that differ substantially in case shape, size and function. Its entries are examples, not proof that every model remains in stock today.

The 2017 Fratello article identifies reference 888.018.310 as discontinued and suggests looking on the pre-owned market. That is a report about this particular reference at that time, not confirmation of its present availability or of the status of every N°8. The official collection page lists other references, but a web listing does not establish current stock.

What to check before buying a pre-owned example
Because availability and condition vary from one watch to another, assess the individual piece rather than relying on collection-level descriptions. Ask the seller for:
- A clear photograph of the reference or paperwork identifying the exact model.
- Confirmation that the movement runs, along with service documentation if available.
- Detailed images of the dial, hands, integrated crown, clasp and case to assess originality and condition.
- Measurements for the strap and clasp if you plan to replace either; the cited article does not provide lug dimensions or confirm compatibility with aftermarket parts.
