What is the Behrens BHR030 20G?
The BHR030 is Behrens’ Ultra-Light 20G, a mechanical wristwatch whose defining traits are its low-weight design and retrograde time display. Behrens lists 2023 as its production year. Rather than using conventional hands that make full rotations around a dial, its display uses retrograde indications for hours and minutes, alongside a power-reserve indicator.
The name “20G” refers to a weight claim: in a May 2024 announcement, Japanese distributor Osawa Shokai described the watch as weighing 20 grams. That is an attributed distributor figure, not an independent measurement; the announcement does not specify whether it refers to the watch head or the complete watch with strap.
How does the display and movement work?
Double-retrograde time display
The hours and minutes are shown by double-retrograde indications, with a separate display for remaining power reserve. The retrograde format is the watch’s most distinctive functional feature, replacing the familiar circular sweep of traditional hands with indicators that travel along an arc and return to their starting point.

Hand-wound BM02 movement
Behrens identifies the calibre as its in-house BM02. The Japanese distributor describes it as hand wound; Behrens specifies a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and a 38-hour power reserve. The Hour Glass also lists a 38-hour reserve. The Hour Glass includes seconds in its feature list, but Behrens’ model-page function list does not, so seconds should not be assumed from the manufacturer’s stated functions.
What are the case, materials and dimensions?
The case is titanium, with Osawa Shokai identifying the grade as 5. Behrens gives its dimensions as 42.6 × 38.2 mm; The Hour Glass lists the same measurements in reverse order, 38.2 × 42.6 mm. No thickness measurement is stated in the reviewed product specifications, so “super-thin” should not be taken as a documented case-thickness figure.

Behrens specifies a sapphire crystal, fluoroelastomer strap and titanium clasp. The strap is offered in two lengths, but the brand does not publish their measurements on its product page. Behrens says the case curves to fit the wrist and describes the movement and case as creatively integrated. Those are the maker’s design explanations, not independent fit or construction assessments.
How much does the Behrens Ultra-Light 20G weigh?
Osawa Shokai’s May 2024 announcement gives the weight as 20 grams and connects the figure to the grade 5 titanium case and BM02 movement. Neither that release nor the manufacturer and retailer specifications reviewed establish exactly what is included in the measurement. Treat 20 grams as the distributor’s stated figure, not a verified complete-watch weight.

Is the BHR030 suitable for swimming?
Behrens rates the watch at 3 BAR. The Hour Glass expresses the rating as 30 m / 3 ATM, and Osawa Shokai also describes it as three atmospheres. These ratings do not establish a swimming or diving recommendation; no more specific permitted-use instruction is stated in the cited product information.
