The Bell & Ross BR V2-94 Bellytanker Bronze, reference BRV294-BC-BR/SCA, is a 41 mm automatic chronograph with a black dial, bronze case and bezel, and 100 m water resistance. Bell & Ross currently marks the reference unavailable on its US product page, so its listed price should not be mistaken for a live offer. Here are the confirmed specifications, what the 2019 hands-on review observed, and what to check before considering a particular example.
What the BR V2-94 Bellytanker Bronze is
This is the black-dial Bellytanker Bronze released in 2019, reference BRV294-BC-BR/SCA. It combines the BR V2-94 chronograph format with a bronze case and bezel, a black dial, and a tachymeter insert. It is distinct from Bell & Ross’s later Bronze Espresso and Bronze Mint colorways; their edition details do not apply to this reference.
The name belongs to Bell & Ross’s racing-themed Bellytanker line. In a 16 April 2019 review, Brice Goulard of Monochrome traced the term to aircraft drop tanks repurposed for land-speed cars and noted that Bell & Ross imagined its own Bellytanker car in 2017 as inspiration for a watch series. Bell & Ross describes the separate Bronze Espresso variant as drawing on watches worn by belly tank racers in the 1950s; that is brand context, not an edition-size claim for this black-dial model.

The current brand specifications are on the Bell & Ross product page. Monochrome describes the BR-CAL.301 as a modular chronograph based on ETA 2894-2 architecture and reports 28,800 vibrations per hour and 37 jewels. Those movement details come from that 2019 review, not the current brand specification page.

How the bronze and black design works
The visual contrast is the watch’s defining choice: a black dial and tachymeter insert set against a warm bronze case and bezel. The 2019 Monochrome review likens the black-and-gold effect to the John Player Special racing palette; that is the reviewer’s comparison, not a documented Bell & Ross design reference.
Monochrome says the CuAl7Si2 aluminium-bronze alloy develops a relatively light greenish patina over time, which can be removed. Treat this as the reviewer’s description, not a guaranteed appearance or a test of every individual watch. Patina depends on the specific watch and its history, so a listing photo is more useful than a general expectation when judging a used example.

Monochrome and Time and Watches reported a limited run of 999 pieces and a launch price of EUR 4,900 in 2019. Time and Watches also reported US$4,990 retail pricing at the time. These are historical launch figures, not current resale valuations.
Bell & Ross’s US product page currently shows $6,000 and labels the reference unavailable. That page does not establish availability elsewhere or the market value of a pre-owned watch. Check the specific seller’s live listing rather than treating either the historical launch price or the brand page figure as a current offer.

What to verify before buying one
The model specifications can identify the reference, but they cannot establish the condition or authenticity of an individual watch. Ask for evidence tied to the exact example and listing.
- Reference and identity: confirm BRV294-BC-BR/SCA and compare the dial, bezel, case, clasp, and movement documentation with the black-dial version’s specifications.
- Condition and patina: request recent, well-lit images of the case, bezel, crystal, dial, clasp, and caseback. Ask whether any patina has been removed and whether parts have been replaced or refinished.
- Provenance and authenticity: ask what documentation accompanies the watch and whether the seller can support its history and authenticity.
- Chronograph and date operation: ask for a demonstration or inspection confirming that the chronograph, date, and time-setting functions operate correctly.
- Service and returns: establish the service history, what guarantee applies, and the seller’s return terms before paying.
- Price and completeness: compare the asking price with the specific watch’s condition, documentation, and included items. The 2019 launch price is not a reliable substitute for current, listing-specific comparisons.
Bell & Ross lists a black calfskin strap, but the available specifications do not state lug width or replacement-strap dimensions. Confirm fit and clasp compatibility before buying a substitute strap.

What the published specifications do not establish
Neither the brand page nor the cited 2019 review establishes this watch’s thickness, weight, accuracy, service cost, or comfort on a particular wrist. The 41 mm diameter alone cannot tell you how it will wear. If fit matters, try the watch on or obtain additional measurements from the seller; if performance matters, request a recent service record or an independent inspection of that specific example.
