Benjamin Arabov took over as CEO of Jacob & Co. in 2021, with a remit centered on operations and marketing. Founder Jacob Arabo remained at the heart of the company, focusing on product design and its wider creative vision. The change was a division of responsibilities, not a founder’s departure.
When did Benjamin Arabov become CEO of Jacob & Co.?
Monochrome Watches reported the appointment in an interview published March 16, 2021. Arabov had returned to the family company’s digital and social-media work in 2017 before moving into the CEO role. Monochrome Watches’ 2021 interview is the contemporaneous account of the transition.
Later references continued to identify him as CEO: Jacob & Co. used the title in a June 24, 2024 article about its Bugatti Tourbillon collaboration, and WatchTime India identified him as CEO in an online interview published August 28, 2025. WatchTime notes that the interview first appeared in its January 2024 issue; these dated references confirm the title at those times, not any unreported change after publication. How are Benjamin Arabov and Jacob Arabo’s roles divided?
Arabov described his own focus as operations and marketing, while his father, Jacob Arabo, concentrated on product design and the broader creative vision. In the 2021 interview, Arabov said, “I will focus mainly on operations and marketing.” He described the arrangement as giving his father more room to pursue the company’s long-term vision while Jacob continued to manage the creative work and his team. In a February 2022 interview about his first year in the role, Arabov described the split similarly: “I focus on marketing and operations, and he focuses on design and production.” He also said he brought a more data-oriented consumer perspective to product planning alongside Jacob’s intuitive creative process. That describes how the executives presented their working relationship; it does not establish a complete corporate governance structure. Monochrome Watches, February 3, 2022
Jacob Arabo remained a central figure
Jacob & Co.’s official biography identifies Jacob Arabo as founder and chairman. The company says he launched the label in 1986, and his continued focus on creative direction fits the division of work described by his son. What does Jacob & Co. make?
The company makes both watches and jewelry. Its official history traces the label to 1986, when Jacob Arabo launched it, and describes work across both categories. Watches are prominent in the brand’s public profile, but the business is not limited to watchmaking. Jacob & Co.’s official about page
What did Arabov bring to the CEO role?
Before returning to the company, Arabov said he had run a marketing business. In 2017, he took over Jacob & Co.’s social-media activities. The 2021 Monochrome interview reported that the company’s combined social audience had grown from 200,000 to 2.5 million during his digital work. In that same account, Arabov described the main Instagram account growing from 200,000 to 1.8 million. These are historical audience figures reported by Monochrome in 2021, not current counts; the combined audience and Instagram account figures are distinct measures.

In the 2022 interview, Arabov discussed digital exposure and the use of social and influencer content as parts of the company’s marketing approach. He also said, “My creative approach is also emotional, but it also is more data-driven.” These are his descriptions of the strategy, not independent evidence that any particular tactic caused a business result. In the February 2022 interview, Arabov said the company’s sales in 2021 doubled compared with 2020 and called 2021 its best year. The statement is an executive’s account in an interview, not an audited financial disclosure. It does not show that the CEO transition or a particular marketing effort caused the reported increase.

Arabov also described the company’s business mix at the time as 80% watches and 20% jewelry. That split is his 2022 estimate, not an audited segment breakdown. Monochrome Watches, February 3, 2022
How the leadership change fits the company’s evolution
The 2021 transition formalized a complementary leadership model: a CEO responsible for operations and marketing alongside a founder who remained focused on design and creative direction. Arabov’s earlier digital work and his later comments about data-informed product planning help explain how his remit connected customer-facing operations with the creative side of a family-founded watch and jewelry business.
One later example of the company’s partnership work is the Bugatti Tourbillon collaboration, announced by Jacob & Co. in June 2024. In a WatchTime India interview published online in 2025 but first appearing in its January 2024 issue, Arabov discussed boutiques and said five additional mono-brand boutiques were planned for the following year. That was a forward-looking statement in the interview, not confirmation that the locations subsequently opened.
