Blancpain’s 42mm Fifty Fathoms Automatique is a family, not a single configuration: the current collection includes grade 23 titanium, red gold and polished steel versions. Blancpain calls the size 42 mm; its product pages list a 42.30 mm case diameter. The main differences are material, dial and strap or bracelet configuration, while the cited titanium and steel examples share Calibre 1315 and the same published core dimensions.
Which 42mm Fifty Fathoms Automatique models are available?
Blancpain introduced the titanium and red-gold versions in March 2024 as non-limited additions to its current collection. In April 2025, it announced a polished-steel version as part of the permanent collection. The configurations below are those documented by Blancpain; not every strap, clasp and dial is necessarily available with every reference.
| Version | Documented reference | Material and dial | Configuration notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Titanium, 2024 family | 5010 12B40 O52B | Grade 23 titanium; sunburst blue dial for this reference | Product page lists sail-canvas and selectable rubber, NATO or satin-brushed titanium choices, subject to configuration. |
| Red gold, 2024 family | 5010 reference family; the release does not identify one reference for every variant | Red gold; the release describes blue- and black-dial versions | Blancpain describes sail-canvas, NATO and Tropic-textured rubber choices. Confirm the exact reference and clasp. |
| Polished steel, announced 2025 | 5010 1130 71S | Steel; sunburst black dial | Shown on a steel bracelet; Blancpain also describes Tropic rubber with a pin buckle or deployant clasp. |
Blancpain’s March 2024 announcement describes the titanium and red-gold additions and their options in its 42 mm Automatique release. The specific titanium configuration is listed on the 5010 12B40 O52B product page. Blancpain documents the steel configuration on the 5010 1130 71S product page and in its April 2025 polished-steel announcement.
What do the cited 5010 examples share?
The titanium 5010 12B40 O52B and steel 5010 1130 71S product pages list the same movement and key case measurements. These are Blancpain specifications, not results from independent testing.

How do the materials and finishes differ?
Titanium
The documented titanium example uses grade 23 titanium. Blancpain describes its case as satin-brushed, and the reference page pairs it with a sunburst blue dial. This gives buyers a metal-case option distinct from the red-gold and polished-steel versions.
Red gold
Blancpain’s 2024 release identifies red gold as a material option and describes both blue and black dials across the release’s range. Because the release covers a family rather than one fully specified reference, check the exact reference, strap and clasp for the particular watch being offered.
Polished steel
The steel 5010 1130 71S is explicitly described as polished and is shown with a sunburst black dial and steel bracelet. Blancpain’s release also describes a Tropic rubber option, with pin-buckle or deployant-clasp configurations. The exact setup should be confirmed with the seller.
What does Calibre 1315 offer?
For the cited titanium and steel examples, Blancpain specifies automatic Calibre 1315 with a 120-hour reserve—five days—alongside a 4 Hz frequency, 35 jewels, a silicon balance spring and 227 components. Blancpain’s 2024 release says the five-day reserve is supported by three barrels coupled in series and describes a stop-seconds function. It also says the caliber is designed, built, produced, assembled and adjusted in-house, and uses an 18K red-gold oscillating weight with NAC coating. Those are manufacturer descriptions in the March 2024 announcement.
Blancpain’s 2025 steel release says Calibre 1315 was first launched in 2007 and describes the silicon balance spring as protection against magnetism. That is the manufacturer’s characterization, not an independent magnetic-resistance test.
How should you choose between them?
- Choose by case material and finish: grade 23 satin-brushed titanium, red gold or polished steel create distinctly different looks.
- Choose by dial: the cited titanium reference has a sunburst blue dial; the cited steel reference has a sunburst black dial. Blancpain’s 2024 release describes blue and black dials across the red-gold range.
- Check the complete configuration: strap or bracelet, buckle or deployant clasp, and reference number matter. Do not assume every option shown across the family can be combined.
- Assess fit using more than the nominal diameter: the cited examples measure 42.30 mm across, 14.30 mm thick and 21.50 mm between the horns. Whether those dimensions suit your wrist is personal; no independent wear assessment is established here.
What to verify before buying
Prices and availability vary by market and were not specified in the cited Blancpain materials. Before purchasing, confirm the details for the actual watch with Blancpain or a point of sale. Blancpain’s Fifty Fathoms collection page provides collection and point-of-sale information.
- Exact reference and case material
- Dial color and finish
- Included bracelet or strap, and the available buckle or clasp
- Local price, availability and delivery details
- Blancpain’s instructions for operation, care and service
The cited specifications list 30-bar water resistance. That rating alone does not establish that a particular watch is safe to dive with in its current condition or replace the manufacturer’s operating and maintenance instructions. Consult Blancpain’s guidance for the watch and have its condition assessed as appropriate.
