Breitling’s B19 perpetual-calendar chronograph debuted in three limited 140th-anniversary watches: the Premier, Navitimer and Chronomat. The Navitimer B19 pairs a 43 mm red-gold case with a slide-rule bezel; the Super Chronomat B19 is 44 mm, has a ratcheted rotating bezel and offers higher stated water resistance. A similarly named Super Chronomat Four-Year Calendar is not a B19 perpetual calendar: it uses a different movement and a semi-perpetual mechanism that Breitling says needs adjustment every leap year.
How the Navitimer and Super Chronomat B19 differ
Both watches use Breitling’s manufacture B19 movement, combine a chronograph with a perpetual calendar and moon-phase display, and are limited to 140 pieces. Their practical differences are the case dimensions, bezel, strap and stated water resistance. The specifications and prices below are from Breitling’s US Navitimer and UK Super Chronomat product pages; the prices are snapshots for different markets and are not a like-for-like comparison.
| Model and reference | Calendar and movement | Case and water resistance | Power reserve | Other distinctions | Displayed price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Navitimer B19 Chronograph 43 Perpetual Calendar 140th Anniversary RB19101A1H1P1 |
Manufacture Breitling B19; perpetual calendar with moon-phase | 18k red gold, 43 mm; 3 bar / 30 m | Approximately 96 hours | Bidirectional slide-rule bezel; alligator strap; 140-piece limited edition | USD 65,550 on Breitling’s US page, excluding sales tax |
| Super Chronomat B19 44 Perpetual Calendar 140th Anniversary RB19301A1G1S1 |
Manufacture Breitling B19; perpetual calendar with moon-phase | 18k red gold, 44 mm; 10 bar / 100 m | Approximately 96 hours | Unidirectional ratcheted rotating bezel; black rubber strap; 140-piece limited edition | GBP 57,800 on Breitling’s UK page, including VAT |
Breitling states 39 jewels and a frequency of 28,800 v.p.h. for the Navitimer B19; its chronograph measures to one-quarter second and has a 30-minute counter. The UK Super Chronomat page lists a 15.35 mm case thickness. Those additional specifications are not a complete side-by-side comparison because the retrieved pages do not provide matching details for both models.
The water-resistance figures are manufacturer specifications, not a recommendation for a particular activity. Follow Breitling’s guidance for the specific watch and its condition rather than treating a rating alone as proof of suitability for swimming or diving.

What makes the B19 calendar perpetual?
Breitling describes B19 as its first perpetual-calendar chronograph movement. A perpetual calendar is designed to account for the varying lengths of months and leap years without the routine calendar corrections required by simpler calendar mechanisms. The two B19 watches listed here also display the moon phase. Their movement and complication are distinct from the Super Chronomat Four-Year Calendar described below.
Each of the three B19 anniversary editions is limited to 140 pieces. Breitling says the watches come in a suede-lined wooden collection box configurable for up to three watches.

Is the Super Chronomat Four-Year Calendar a perpetual calendar?
No. The Super Chronomat 44 Four-Year Calendar, reference U19320161C1S1, uses Breitling Calibre 19 and a semi-perpetual calendar. Breitling says it requires adjustment once each leap year, or every 1,461 days. That is not the same complication or movement as the B19 perpetual-calendar watches.

| Super Chronomat 44 Four-Year Calendar U19320161C1S1 |
Breitling Calibre 19; semi-perpetual calendar; day, date, month and moon-phase | Steel and 18k red gold, 44 mm; 10 bar / 100 m | Approximately 42 hours | USD 18,800 on Breitling’s US page, excluding sales tax |
Breitling describes this version as a COSC-certified chronometer. Its lower displayed US price should not be read as a direct value comparison with the B19 Navitimer: the Four-Year Calendar has a different movement and calendar mechanism, and the pages reflect different product configurations.

Which one fits your priorities?
- Choose the Navitimer B19 for the slide-rule design. Its bidirectional slide-rule bezel is the defining functional distinction, paired with a 43 mm red-gold case and alligator strap.
- Consider the Super Chronomat B19 for the Chronomat format. It is 44 mm in red gold, has a rubber strap and unidirectional ratcheted bezel, and carries the higher stated water-resistance rating of the two B19 listings.
- Consider the Four-Year Calendar if a leap-year adjustment interval is acceptable. It offers a calendar-equipped Super Chronomat but is semi-perpetual, uses Calibre 19 and has a shorter stated reserve than the B19 models.
These editions share a movement and anniversary status only where indicated; the names alone do not make their calendar mechanisms interchangeable.
Where the Premier fits—and what is confirmed
Breitling’s anniversary narrative includes the Premier as the third collection represented by a B19 perpetual-calendar chronograph, alongside Navitimer and Chronomat. The brand dates the Premier’s debut to 1943 and describes it as taking the chronograph “out of the cockpit and into society.” It also frames the Premier as a symbol of “impeccable taste,” attributing that phrase to founder Willy Breitling.

Breitling says the Navitimer was developed in 1952 for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), combining a chronograph with its wrist-worn circular slide rule. The brand also calls it the first Swiss wristwatch in space in 1962. Breitling dates the Chronomat’s launch to 1983 as the official watch of Italy’s Frecce Tricolori aerobatic team, with a broader release the following year. These dates and descriptions are Breitling’s account of its history.
