Casio Canada lists 100-meter water resistance, an Auto EL backlight, world time and the ability to show up to two time zones. Whether it is a “best seller” is not something the available sources can confirm, so this article sticks to what the manufacturer documents and flags where the details need checking.
What Casio says the AQ160W-1BV is
Casio Canada’s AQ160W-1BV product page describes a black watch with a resin band and a full LCD ana-digi display. The listed highlights are:
- 100-meter water resistance
- Auto EL (electro-luminescent) backlight
- World-time functionality, with the display able to show up to two time zones
Casio’s own copy puts the time-zone idea simply: “With this watch you can easily keep up with the time back home.” These are manufacturer claims, not independent test results.
The “best seller” question
No unit sales, sales rank, market share or named ranking appears in the Casio product page or operation guide. Treat “best seller” here as a label, not a measured fact. What the watch does have is a conventional, practical formula: analog hands for quick reading, an LCD for secondary information, a backlight and a resin strap.

#1 Best Overall
- RETRO 1980s-INSPIRED ANALOG-DIGITAL DESIGN The Casio AQ-800E-7A reimagines the iconic AQ-450 design from the 1980s with a modern vintage aesthetic. A separate analog dial and LCD display combine classic watch styling with convenient digital functionality, while the grid-pattern dial, simple bar indexes, and angular case create a distinctive retro look.
- SLIM, LIGHTWEIGHT CASE WITH STAINLESS STEEL BAND Measuring 40.7 × 32.1 × 8.7 mm (L × W × H) and weighing 52 grams, the AQ-800E-7A has a slim profile designed for comfortable everyday wear. The case features a resin/chrome-plated construction and resin glass, while the stainless steel band with adjustable clasp fits approximately 150–205 mm wrists.
- DUAL TIME & 1/100-SECOND STOPWATCH Keep track of another time zone with the Dual Time function, while the 1/100-second stopwatch measures elapsed time with a capacity of up to 59 minutes, 59.99 seconds. These practical functions add versatility without taking away from the watch's clean vintage appearance.
- DAILY ALARM, HOURLY TIME SIGNAL & EVERYDAY CONVENIENCE Stay on schedule with a daily alarm and hourly time signal. The watch also features an auto-calendar, 12/24-hour format, and separate analog and digital time displays showing hour, minute, second, PM, month, date, and day.
- WATER RESISTANT & POWERED BY SR920W BATTERY Designed for everyday wear, the AQ-800E-7A features water resistance for routine situations such as rain and hand washing. A SR920W battery provides approximately 3 years of battery life, while quartz accuracy is approximately ±30 seconds per month.
Why the ana-digi layout matters
Analog hands give an at-a-glance read, while the LCD carries digital time and functions such as a second time zone. If you travel or work across time zones, that pairing is the point of the watch. If you only want a plain dial, or want a large digital readout, a different layout may suit you better. Casio’s sources do not establish a shortlist of competitors, current prices or availability, so check those with a retailer.
Specifications from the related Casio guide
Casio’s product page refers to a PDF manual, but the official guide I can cite is labeled Operation Guide 5416 (QW-5416), copyright 2020. The sources do not conclusively tie that guide number to the AQ160W-1BV. Check the module number on your watch’s case back against the manual before relying on the figures below.
Rank #2

- 1/100 second digital stopwatch (Measuring capacity: 59'59.99", Measuring modes: Elapsed time)
- Hourly Time Signal, Auto Calendar, 12/24 Hour Formats
- Accuracy: +/-30 seconds per month, Battery SR920W,Approx. battery life: 3 years

These are Casio’s stated specifications, not independent measurements. Frequent backlight use shortens battery life, and the guide notes specifications may change without notice.
Water resistance: what 100 meters does and does not mean
The 100-meter rating comes from the product page. The QW-5416 guide associates this class (10 atmospheres) with swimming and water-related work, and states: “Do not use your watch for scuba diving or other types of diving that requires air tanks.” Practical rules from the same guide:
Rank #3
- Band is made from Bio-Based Resin, and is produced from renewable organic materials
- LED Backlight aids visibility in darker environments
- WORLD TIME function includes 31 unique times zones, 48 cities, and features a daylight saving on/off & Home City / World Time City Swapping
- Additional features include 1/100-second stopwatch function, (5) daily alarms, and an hourly time signal
- Do not press buttons while the watch is wet or submerged.
- Avoid baths and heated pools or saunas.
- After seawater or dirt exposure, rinse the watch.
Treat these as sensible limits for this model too, once you have confirmed the manual match.
Maintenance and service
- Battery: replacement needs special tools. The guide recommends the original retailer or an authorized Casio service center.
- Water-resistance check: ask for one when the battery is replaced.
- Gaskets: the guide advises periodic replacement, about every two or three years.
- Strap: the resin band is replaceable in principle, but no compatible part number is established in the sources. Confirm lug width and attachment before buying any band.
Checklist before you buy
- Confirm the exact model code, AQ160W-1BV, on the listing.
- Confirm the seller, price and stock yourself, since none is verified here.
- Download the manual that matches the module number printed on the watch.
- Decide whether swimming-level water resistance is enough for you. Diving is excluded.
The Bottom Line
The AQ160W-1BV is a straightforward black resin ana-digi watch with a 100-meter rating, world time and an EL backlight. It suits everyday and swimming use but not diving. Verify the manual match and seller details before you rely on specific figures.
