Casio G-SHOCK MOVE DW-H5600: Features, GPS and Buying Advice

The G-SHOCK MOVE DW-H5600 adds heart-rate, sleep and training features to Casio’s square 5600 design, but GPS workouts require a paired phone.

The Casio G-SHOCK MOVE DW-H5600 brings heart-rate, blood-oxygen, sleep and training features to the familiar square 5600-series design. It is best understood as a rugged wellness and fitness watch—not a phone-free GPS sports watch: it has no built-in GPS, so route and GPS-based workout data rely on a paired smartphone.

What is the G-SHOCK MOVE DW-H5600?

The DW-H5600 is a fitness-oriented member of Casio’s square 5600-series G-SHOCK line. Casio also uses the compressed designation DWH5600 in some references; standard and DW-H5600MB special-finish versions are available. The model combines a traditional button-operated watch with optical heart-rate measurement, activity tracking and wellness analysis. Casio presents it as a health-and-wellness tracker rather than a general-purpose app smartwatch. Casio’s DW-H5600 product page lists the features and variants.

The official product pages establish the watch’s current features, but do not establish a new August 2026 launch date. This is therefore a product overview, not a claim that Casio introduced it in 2026.

What fitness and health features does it have?

The watch records heart rate, steps and activity, and supports running, walking, gym workouts and interval training. It can show activity measurements during a session and sync training history to the G-SHOCK MOVE app. Casio says Polar technology powers its training and sleep analysis; this describes the analysis technology, not a Polar-made watch.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
  • Training: Cardio load and cardio-load status, Running Index and estimated VO₂ max-related information, plus energy-source analysis. GPS-dependent running data requires a connected phone.
  • Everyday activity: Step counts, life-log records and calorie-related data.
  • Sleep and recovery: Sleep analysis, recovery-related features including Nightly Recharge, and breathing exercises.
  • Blood oxygen: An optical wellness measurement. Casio says it is for general health management and is not a medical device or diagnostic function.

These are consumer wellness readings, not clinical results. Fit, skin contact, movement, temperature and activity can affect optical measurements and estimates; use trends for general context rather than treating an individual reading as a diagnosis.

Does the DW-H5600 have built-in GPS?

No. Casio’s G-SHOCK MOVE comparison page lists GPS for the GBDH2000 and GBDH1000, but not for the DW-H5600. The watch uses its accelerometer for steps, while a paired phone’s GPS can support distance correction, routes and GPS-based training metrics. That means a runner expecting to leave the phone at home will not get onboard GPS tracking from this model.

Phone placement, Bluetooth connection and outdoor signal conditions can affect the GPS data the watch receives. For phone-free GPS workouts or outdoor navigation, look at a GPS-equipped sports watch instead.

Design, durability and specifications

The DW-H5600 retains the compact square 5600-series profile, with a memory-in-pixel LCD and physical controls rather than a touchscreen-first interface. Casio lists shock resistance and 20-bar water resistance. The 20-bar rating is a water-resistance specification, not a blanket guarantee for every high-pressure water activity; follow Casio’s guidance for the specific use.

Charging and battery expectations

The watch is USB-rechargeable for fitness and connected features, while solar charging assists timekeeping. It should not be treated as a fitness tracker powered entirely by sunlight: the heart-rate, training and smart functions depend on the rechargeable battery.

Casio states that a full charge takes approximately three hours and gives approximately one week of continuous operation under a stated use scenario of about one hour per day. Actual runtime depends on sensor, notification and charging use. Casio also says timekeeping can continue through solar charging under its specified light-exposure conditions when the battery is low.

What requires the phone app?

Basic watch functions and tracking happen on the watch, but the app is central to reviewing history, setting goals and configuring many training options. The documented routes in Casio’s DW-H5600 operation guide are:

  • Training history: G-SHOCK MOVE → Activity → History
  • Life-log data: G-SHOCK MOVE → Home → Life Log
  • Daily targets: G-SHOCK MOVE → More → User
  • Training plans: G-SHOCK MOVE → Activity → Plan
  • Watch settings: G-SHOCK MOVE → More → Watch

Some alert intervals and auto-lap settings are also configured in the app. Menu names can change with app updates, so these are the routes in the documented guide rather than a promise that the interface will never change. Check Casio’s regional product and support page for current phone and operating-system compatibility; the reviewed product materials do not provide a complete current OS-version list.

DW-H5600 compared with other G-SHOCK MOVE watches

Casio’s comparison chart distinguishes the DW-H5600 from the GPS-equipped outdoor models and the simpler accelerometer-based options. Use the model names as a starting point and confirm exact features for the regional variant before buying.

Model GPS Heart rate Best fit
DW-H5600 No onboard GPS; paired-phone GPS support Yes Square G-SHOCK styling with health, sleep and training features for phone-assisted workouts.
GBDH2000 Yes Yes More sensor-rich GPS multisport use; Casio also lists gyroscope, altitude/barometric-pressure and temperature sensors.
GBDH1000 Yes Yes GPS and heart-rate tracking for outdoor use with environmental sensors; Casio lists it as substantially larger and heavier than the DW-H5600.
GBD200 No; accelerometer-based distance tracking No A simpler fitness-oriented option if heart-rate monitoring and onboard GPS are not priorities.
GBA900 No onboard GPS; phone-based distance correction Not listed by Casio’s comparison chart Basic step and running support with G-SHOCK styling.

All model comparisons above are based on Casio’s G-SHOCK MOVE comparison page. The DW-H5600 sits between a basic activity-focused G-SHOCK and a dedicated GPS sports watch: it adds a broader wellness feature set, but not the independent GPS hardware or advanced navigation some runners want.

Who should buy the DW-H5600?

It makes sense if

  • You want heart-rate, step, sleep and training tracking in a rugged, traditional square watch.
  • You value shock resistance and 20-bar water resistance more than a touchscreen smartwatch experience.
  • You are comfortable carrying a phone for GPS-supported route and distance tracking.
  • You want solar assistance for timekeeping and can keep the fitness battery charged over USB.

Choose something else if

  • You want phone-free GPS running, route navigation or advanced multisport tracking; compare the GBDH2000 or GBDH1000.
  • You mainly want basic activity and running support and do not need heart-rate or blood-oxygen features; the GBD200 or GBA900 may be a better match.
  • You prioritize cellular connectivity, extensive third-party apps, a touchscreen-first interface or a broader smartwatch ecosystem. The DW-H5600 is not a substitute for an Apple Watch-style platform or a dedicated Garmin, Fitbit or Polar sports watch.
  • You need medically validated monitoring. Casio explicitly describes blood-oxygen measurement as non-diagnostic, and the watch’s wellness data should not be treated as medical results.

Variants, price and availability

Casio’s U.S. listings include the standard black DW-H5600-1, standard white DW-H5600-7, and special-finish models DW-H5600MB-1, DW-H5600MB-2 and DW-H5600MB-8A9. Current price and stock depend on region and retailer; check the live listing for the variant you intend to buy rather than relying on an undated price.

Verdict

The DW-H5600 is a compelling choice for someone who wants G-SHOCK toughness and square-watch styling alongside everyday health tracking and phone-assisted workouts. Its defining compromise is clear: it provides substantial wellness and training analysis, but it does not carry its own GPS, and its connected features still depend on a rechargeable battery and app.
