What makes the MTG-B1000RB the Lunar Rainbow?
Casio announced the MTG-B1000RB in March 2019 to mark 20 years of its MT-G series, which began in 1999. The company described the design inspiration as a “lunar rainbow” and applied rainbow ion plating (IP) to the bezel. Casio says the color distribution differs on each bezel, so the finish is not identical from one example to another. The Japanese release date was May 17, 2019, according to Casio’s March 27, 2019 announcement.
The model is based on the MTG-B1000 and uses Casio’s Core Guard Structure. Casio describes the structure as connecting the bezel, case back and band connection pieces around an inner case; the MT-G family overview explains the construction.
What the Baselworld hands-on shows—and does not show
aBlogtoWatch’s Baselworld 2019 hands-on video, presented by Ariel Adams and published March 21, 2019, documents the watch’s presentation and calls attention to its rainbow ion-plated treatment. Its description gives a launch-era price of $1,000. That is historical reporting from 2019, not a current retail price or resale valuation. The video is a contemporary hands-on reference, but it does not establish personal wear or testing for this article.

These specifications appear on Casio UK’s MTG-B1000RB-2AER product page. The case measurements and 123 g weight indicate a substantial watch; whether its proportions suit a particular wrist is a matter of fit, not something the published figures resolve.

Timekeeping, power and everyday functions
Two ways to correct the time
The listing specifies both Bluetooth smartphone time adjustment and Multi Band 6 radio timekeeping. These are separate time-setting methods: Bluetooth links the watch with a smartphone, while Multi Band 6 refers to radio time calibration. Casio lists both for this regional variant, so the choice is not a Bluetooth-only or radio-only configuration.
Solar power and useful functions
Tough Solar is the listed power system. Casio also specifies world time, a stopwatch, a countdown timer, a daily alarm, LED illumination, power saving and a full auto-calendar through 2099. These are manufacturer-listed functions; the product page does not provide independent test results for real-world accuracy, battery endurance or performance.
