The black-and-gold DW-5600KT24-1JR is the Hello Kitty 50th Anniversary G-SHOCK. Its ribbon-inspired graphic appears when the backlight is on, and its Japanese launch was October 30, 2024, at ¥18,700 including tax. It is distinct from the white BABY-G collaboration announced earlier that year.
What is the Hello Kitty 50th Anniversary G-SHOCK?
Casio’s Japan-market model is the DW-5600KT24-1JR, a collaboration marking both Hello Kitty’s 50th anniversary and the 50th anniversary of Casio’s watch business. The square digital watch is based on the DW-5600 and pairs an all-black body with gold-colored accents on the buckle, buttons, and screws. Casio’s product page identifies the model and its design details.
Design details
The watch’s most distinctive feature is a special graphic that appears when the LED backlight is switched on: an original “G ribbon” motif inspired by Hello Kitty’s signature bow. The black band has a Hello Kitty silhouette and “Hello Kitty 50th Anniversary” wording, while the case back carries a 50th-anniversary engraving. It is supplied in a matching original tin package.

Japan launch date and price
Casio and Sanrio announced the G-SHOCK for Japanese sale starting October 30, 2024, at a launch price of ¥18,700 including tax. Planned sales channels included Casio’s official online store, selected Sanrio shops and department-store Sanrio counters, and Sanrio’s online store. These are historical Japan-market launch details, not confirmation of current stock or today’s price. Sanrio’s October 23, 2024 announcement gives the date, price, and planned channels.
How it differs from the 2024 Hello Kitty BABY-G
A separate Hello Kitty watch announced in January 2024 is easy to confuse with the October G-SHOCK. The BABY-G BGD-565KT (US designation BGD565KT-7) celebrates Hello Kitty’s 50th anniversary and BABY-G’s 30th anniversary. It is based on the BGD-565, uses white, red, and blue colors inspired by Hello Kitty’s 1974 debut look, and includes character details on the watch and a cloth pouch.

The BABY-G was not the black-and-gold G-SHOCK. Casio Japan announced the BGD-565KT on January 10, 2024; Casio America announced the BGD565KT-7 the following day. The dollar price is the US launch retail price, not a current price or a direct conversion of the Japanese G-SHOCK launch price. Casio Japan’s announcement covers the BGD-565KT, and Casio America’s announcement identifies the US model and launch price.

Use the full model number to distinguish the watches: DW-5600KT24-1JR is the black-and-gold G-SHOCK; BGD-565KT or BGD565KT-7 identifies the separate BABY-G collaboration. For a G-SHOCK listing, check the seller, condition, and whether the original tin is included. The official launch information establishes neither current availability nor resale value, so assess those from the specific listing rather than inferring them from the original price.
