Casio’s July 9, 2025 U.S. announcement introduced two Kurogane-Iro MR-G G-SHOCK references: the MRGB2000BG-3A with a dark green DLC titanium bracelet and the MRGB2000RG3A with a Dura Soft fluoro-rubber strap. Both use a deep blue-green finish inspired by heated iron associated with traditional Japanese armor. Casio announced a U.S. launch price of $3,300 for each; that is a dated launch figure, not a verified current price or availability.
Which Kurogane-Iro MR-G models did Casio announce?
Casio America announced the pair on July 9, 2025. Their shared design theme and color are similar, but the band material—and the exact reference—distinguish them.
| Model | Band | U.S. launch detail |
|---|---|---|
| MRGB2000BG-3A | Solid titanium bracelet with dark green DLC finish | $3,300 announced launch price; Casio said it would be available July 9, 2025, at select jewelers, gshock.com, and the G-SHOCK Soho store |
| MRGB2000RG3A | Dura Soft fluoro-rubber strap | $3,300 announced launch price; Casio said it would be available July 9, 2025, at select jewelers, gshock.com, and the G-SHOCK Soho store |
Those prices and sales channels describe Casio America’s 2025 announcement only. They do not establish what either reference costs or where it is currently in stock.
What does Kurogane-Iro mean in this design?
Casio describes Kurogane-Iro as the deep blue-green shade iron takes on when heated for traditional Japanese armor and helmets. On the MRG-B2000BG-3A, Casio applies green DLC coating and deep-layer hardening to the titanium exterior. The result is a contemporary treatment of an armor-associated color, rather than a claim that the watch itself uses traditional armor-making materials.

The dial details extend the Japanese design references: Casio says the edge evokes a folding fan or screen, while the indexes echo the curve of Japanese swords. The overall effect is samurai-inspired, expressed through the finish and shapes rather than a literal replica of a sword or helmet.
What are the MRG-B2000BG-3A’s specifications?
Casio’s official product page lists these manufacturer specifications for the bracelet model. They are not independent test results.

Size and wear
At 54.7 mm across its listed case dimensions and 150 g, the bracelet reference is a substantial watch. Those figures are specifically for the MRG-B2000BG-3A; the official information cited here does not establish dimensions or weight for the rubber-strap MRGB2000RG3A. Choose between the references primarily by band preference: a full titanium bracelet or a fluoro-rubber strap.

How does the Kurogane-Iro pair relate to other katana-inspired MR-Gs?
Casio has used sword and armor references across different MR-G releases, but those watches are separate models with distinct design stories. They should not be confused with the two July 2025 Kurogane-Iro references.
| Reference | Design element and materials described by Casio | Release or edition detail |
|---|---|---|
| MRG-B2000JS | Inspired by the commissioned Juryoku-Maru: San katana; hybrid titanium bezel combines Ti64 and pure titanium and is processed to evoke the sword’s temper pattern. The band draws on the blue shell-lacquer scabbard design. | Announced October 24, 2024; separate from the Kurogane-Iro pair |
| MRG-B2000KT | Katana-guard-inspired design; titanium bezel hand-engraved with a phoenix by metalsmith KOBAYASHI Masao, with a dark blue-green Kurogane-Iro hue and green DLC | Casio states an edition of 800 worldwide; this is not an edition-size claim for the 2025 pair |
The MRG-B2000KT shows that Kurogane-Iro appears on another MR-G design, while the MRG-B2000JS draws on a specific katana and its scabbard. Their materials, release details, and edition information do not transfer to the BG-3A or RG3A.

What should buyers verify before choosing one?
- Confirm the full reference: MRGB2000BG-3A is the titanium-bracelet version; MRGB2000RG3A is the fluoro-rubber-strap version.
- Check current regional listings for price, stock, and seller status. Casio’s $3,300 figure and named sales channels were U.S. launch details from July 2025, not a current retail quote.
- Use the BG-3A’s published size and weight as a fit consideration if you are sensitive to large or heavy watches; do not assume those measurements apply to the RG3A.
