What is the Cauny x Tadao Ando watch?
It is a watch collection, not a single model. Cauny presents it as part of its “The Architects of Time” series, translating an architectural idea into a small everyday object. In a design explanation dated August 5, 2025, the brand says the green apple symbolizes youth for Ando. The rounded case recalls the fruit; the minute hand is meant to resemble an apple leaf and the hour hand its stem. That is the stated design intent, rather than an independently verified account of Ando’s personal symbolism. Cauny’s product copy publishes the line, “This watch reflects the spirit of the green apple—unripe, a little sour, yet full of promise.” Treat the English wording as Cauny’s published version, not as a verified English-language transcript by Ando. Cauny Japan also publishes a Japanese statement attributed to him on its Tadao Ando collection page.
Which models are available?

The dedicated specifications available for comparison here are for the large green CTA002 and small grey CTA003. The collection pages establish the other two references and their sizes, but not enough variant-specific detail to assume their materials, movement or strap specifications match the models below.
How do the green and grey versions differ?
Green: the more literal apple reference
The green finish makes the collection’s apple concept immediately legible. Choose between the 31.5 mm CTA001 and 37.5 mm CTA002 based on preferred case size; the Japanese CTA002 listing gives the large model’s fuller specification.

Grey: a subtler architectural interpretation
The grey finish shifts the concept toward the brushed-steel palette Cauny links to Ando’s concrete work. The CTA003 is the 31.5 mm option. Cauny’s international listing describes its case and dial as grey brushed steel. The larger grey CTA004 is listed at 37.5 mm, though a dedicated specification page was not among the cited listings.
What are the size and movement specifications?
The two individually documented examples share a quartz movement and 3 ATM water-resistance rating, but their pages differ on other details. Keep each specification tied to its model and listing rather than assuming every figure applies to all four references.

- Case fit: Compare the listed 31.5 mm and 37.5 mm diameters with a watch you already find comfortable. Diameter alone does not establish how a watch will wear on every wrist.
- Strap compatibility: The cited pages specify 18 mm for the large green CTA002 and 16 mm for the small grey CTA003. Do not assume a replacement strap for one will fit the other.
- Water resistance: Both documented examples are rated 3 ATM. The rating alone does not establish suitability for swimming or showering, so do not infer either use without explicit manufacturer guidance.
- Quartz upkeep: Quartz means battery-powered timekeeping; factor in eventual battery replacement rather than treating the movement as maintenance-free.
- Price and stock: Cauny Japan lists CTA002 at ¥31,500 before tax or ¥34,650 tax included; Cauny’s international pages list €198 for its models.
