The Citizen Attesa HAKUTO-R AT8285-68Z is a limited-edition, light-powered radio-controlled watch with a 42 mm Super Titanium case and bracelet finished in Duratect DLC. Its defining visual feature is a structural-color dial that Citizen says shifts from purple to blue as light reflects and refracts across it. Citizen announced a worldwide run of 2,700 pieces in 2023; that historical quantity does not establish current availability or resale value.
What the AT8285-68Z is
Citizen introduced the AT8285-68Z in September 2023 as part of its Attesa ACT Line, in collaboration with ispace’s HAKUTO-R lunar exploration program. Citizen says it began supporting HAKUTO-R as a corporate partner in 2019. The watch’s caseback carries the HAKUTO-R logo, while the dial’s galaxy-inspired treatment links the design to the program. Citizen also says it supplied Super Titanium for parts of the lunar lander’s landing legs.
The model was scheduled for release in Japan on October 12, 2023, in a worldwide limited quantity of 2,700. Citizen’s Japanese suggested retail price at launch was ¥181,500 including tax (¥165,000 before tax). These are launch details, not a current offer or a guide to the watch’s present market value. Citizen Hong Kong’s product page lists HK$15,900, a regional listing that does not confirm current stock or establish a global price.

How the dial changes color
Citizen describes the dial as structural color made using recycled polycarbonate and Fujifilm structural-color ink. Rather than relying only on conventional pigment, the finish uses the way light is reflected and refracted to create a purple-to-blue shift. Citizen adds silver glitter over the dial and says the combination evokes the galaxy travelled by the HAKUTO-R lander. The exact appearance will depend on lighting and viewing angle; the source describes the intended effect, not a measured color range.
Super Titanium, DLC, and case dimensions
The 42.0 mm case and bracelet are made from Super Titanium and treated with Citizen’s Duratect DLC surface finish. Citizen describes Super Titanium as titanium treated with its proprietary Duratect technology and characterizes it as light, scratch-resistant, and gentle on skin. Citizen also compares its hardness with stainless steel; that is the company’s material claim, not an independent comparative test of this watch.

The Japanese launch specifications list a 10.8 mm thickness. Citizen Hong Kong lists a weight of 93.9 g. Those figures offer useful context for the watch’s proportions and material choice, but they do not substitute for trying the watch on: no wearer’s comfort, fit, or finishing assessment is established here.
H800 movement, charging, and time functions
The H800 is an Eco-Drive movement, so it is powered by light, and it receives radio time signals. Citizen Japan lists an approximate operating time of 10 months on a full charge with power save active. Citizen Hong Kong gives approximately six months in normal use. These figures describe different stated conditions on separate regional pages and should not be treated as identical tests or combined into one unconditional runtime.

Citizen lists Direct Flight world-time operation across 26 time zones, a chronograph, perpetual calendar, charge-level display, and daylight-saving function. Its Japanese announcement specifies signal reception for Japan, China, the United States, and Europe; the Hong Kong page instead says five-station reception. Regional specifications therefore matter when checking radio-control coverage or operating instructions.

The announced worldwide quantity of 2,700 makes the AT8285-68Z a limited edition in the launch specification. It does not establish how many pieces remain unsold, whether a particular seller has stock, or what a fair current resale price should be. For a purchase, verify the exact reference, seller reputation, condition, included documentation, and applicable local warranty directly with the retailer.
