The Citizen CZ Smart Hybrid Gen-2 JX2005-55E is a 44 mm analog-style watch with a small backlit E-ink display for connected features—not a touchscreen smartwatch. Citizen advertises more than 18 days of battery life, but says that figure varies with use. Its strongest case is for someone who wants notifications, basic fitness features and music control in a traditional-looking watch; the main buying cautions are regional app compatibility and uncertain long-term software support for this exact reference.
What is the Citizen JX2005-55E?
Citizen identifies the JX2005-55E as a CZ Smart Hybrid Gen-2 with a black ion-plated stainless-steel case and bracelet, mineral crystal and two hands. The case measures 44 mm. Its secondary screen is an E-ink display, so this is distinct from Citizen’s touchscreen Gen-2 watches. Citizen’s UK product listing showed the model as sold out when accessed in 2026; stock and pricing can change.

What does the display and connected feature set offer?
A compact information screen
Citizen specifies a 1.1-inch backlit E-ink display with 240 × 240 resolution and 218 ppi. These are manufacturer specifications, not an independent assessment of brightness, readability or responsiveness. The hybrid layout keeps analog hands as the primary time display and uses the smaller screen for information and smart functions.
Notifications, activity and music
Citizen lists message notifications, fitness tracking, music control and customizable dials, along with heart-rate and gyroscope sensors. Its technology page describes notifications for texts, email, calendar items, social posts and calls. These are advertised capabilities: actual behavior may depend on phone operating system, app version, permissions and country. Citizen says supported features can vary by country and may change.

How long does the battery last?
Citizen claims 18 days or more, depending on use. This is a conditional manufacturer estimate, not an independently measured battery result. Notification frequency, sensor use and other settings can affect runtime, so the stated duration should not be treated as a guaranteed interval for every owner.

Is software support a buying concern?
There is a specific uncertainty for this reference. Citizen’s US support index displays an app-service end notice dated 2026-12-31 for models YF05, YF10, YF20, YF30 and P991. That listed model set does not include JX2005-55E, so the notice does not establish that this watch is affected. The available notice also does not establish what functions would continue if app support changed. If long-term connected use is central to your purchase, ask Citizen to confirm support for JX2005-55E directly.

What should you check before buying?
- Fit and style: The published case size is 44 mm, with a black ion-plated steel case and bracelet. Comfort and how it wears on your wrist require an in-person try-on; the specifications alone cannot establish fit.
- Smartwatch expectations: Choose it for analog styling with a small E-ink information display, rather than for a full-screen touchscreen experience.
- Phone and regional support: Confirm that Citizen Connected and the functions you need are available for your phone and country.
- Price and stock: Citizen’s UK listing showed £369 and sold out when accessed in 2026. Treat that as a dated UK listing snapshot, not a live price or a statement about availability elsewhere.
- Battery expectations: Assess the 18-plus-day figure as Citizen’s usage-dependent claim, not a guaranteed or tested result.
Can you get a replacement charger or strap?
Charger
Citizen UK support lists additional Gen-2 Hybrid charger part 399-003DL-01 and includes JX2005-55E among compatible models. Check the part number against the watch before ordering.

Straps
Citizen’s surfaced Hybrid strap information describes 22 mm straps for select CZ Smart watches, but its model list does not include JX2005-55E. The JX2005-55E is worth considering if you want a conventional analog watch design paired with a compact display and a focused set of connected functions. Its screen, advertised battery duration and features are manufacturer claims rather than independent test findings. The uncertain app-support picture for this exact model and the need to verify current availability make it a more cautious choice for anyone depending on connected features for years to come.
