Corum returned to Swiss ownership in 2025 through a management buyout led by longtime company executive Haso Mehmedovic and backed by Swiss investors. The brand announced the transaction on April 30; its history page says the buyout was finalized on May 5. It is a change in ownership and leadership—not proof, by itself, that Corum has already achieved a commercial turnaround.
What does Corum’s “Swiss-owned comeback” mean?
It refers to a management buyout that returned Corum to Swiss ownership. The Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry says Hong Kong-listed Citychamp Watch & Jewellery Group had owned the brand since 2013 and describes the buyout as a return to 100% Swiss ownership. Corum’s announcement says the deal was led by Haso Mehmedovic, then its International Sales Director, with a group of Swiss investors. Corum says Mehmedovic became Chairman and CEO.
The announcement and completion dates are distinct: Corum’s press-room announcement, titled “CORUM Returns to Swiss Hands,” is dated April 30, 2025, while its brand-history page says the management buyout was finalized May 5, 2025. The Federation reported the change on May 15, 2025. Corum’s press room and the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry’s report describe the transaction and its ownership context.
Who is Haso Mehmedovic?
Mehmedovic is a Corum executive who led the buyout and took the roles of Chairman and CEO, according to the company. Corum’s history says he began at the brand as a watchmaker in 2011, moved through company roles, and later became International Sales Director. That career account comes from Corum itself.

Why does the change matter to Corum’s history?
Corum was founded in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1955 by René Bannwart and his uncle Gaston Ries. Its 70th anniversary fell in 2025. The Swiss ownership change therefore arrived in the brand’s anniversary year, more than a decade after Citychamp’s acquisition.
Corum presents its history as one of unconventional design and technical experimentation. Its own account highlights the key emblem, the Admiral collection, coin watches, unusual dial materials, and later technical and artistic work. These are the company’s descriptions of its identity and history, rather than independent assessments of its products or market position. The brand’s history is on Corum’s official history page.

What could change for watch buyers?
The ownership and leadership change is confirmed; specific effects on watches, production, service, pricing, or distribution are not established by the cited announcements. The available information does not show that the buyout has already increased sales, output, or market share. Buyers should judge any particular watch by its reference, condition, provenance, warranty, and seller, rather than treating the ownership news as evidence of a product or resale-value change.
