The Cramain Mark II is a hand-wound, time-only independent watch built around a 20-second constant-force remontoir. Launch reports from December 2020 list a 39.5 mm case, 60-hour power reserve and an edition of 12; they reported prices of CHF 152,000 to CHF 158,000, depending on case material. Those prices and delivery plans are historical, not current quotations or confirmation that the watches were delivered. Current availability, brand status and price have not been verified.
What does the Cramain Mark II do?
It displays hours, minutes and small seconds. It has no reported calendar, chronograph or other conventional display complication. Its technical distinction is the constant-force mechanism, which releases energy to the balance at regular intervals.
Cramain was founded by watchmaker Kilian Leschnik and Dr Julian M. Stiels. In December 2020, the brand presented the Mark II as its debut commercial wristwatch; SJX noted that it was technically the second model because the Mark I was never commercialised. SJX reported that development began in 2014 and that Stiels joined full-time in 2018. MONOCHROME said it had not handled the watch when its launch coverage was published, so the specifications and construction details below are launch-era reporting and descriptions, not a later hands-on review.
How does the 20-second constant-force system work?
A mainspring’s torque changes as it unwinds, and that variation can affect the balance. The launch reports describe a remontoir that stores a small amount of energy in a secondary spring, then releases a regular amount to the balance every 20 seconds. This is the mechanism’s stated purpose; the reports do not establish a measured accuracy improvement for the Mark II.

The Reuleaux-triangle cam
MONOCHROME described the design as centred on a ruby cam shaped like a Reuleaux triangle. SJX reported that Cramain added hooked teeth to the triangle’s points and that the assembly charges and releases three times per minute. SJX and MONOCHROME each described the remontoir as a 35-part assembly.

Construction and hand-finishing claims
MONOCHROME reported 267 movement components, of which 235 were made fully by hand; it said rubies, sapphire crystals and springs were sourced externally. SJX described the use of hand-operated vintage equipment, hand-made applied numerals and a wide range of finishing techniques. These are launch-era reported or brand-described details, not a recent independent audit.
SJX reproduced this statement from Cramain’s press release: “No external companies are involved in the design, construction, manufacturing or finishing process.” MONOCHROME’s component-sourcing account indicates that this statement should be read in the context of the brand’s design, construction, manufacturing and finishing work, rather than as a claim that every material or component was made in-house.

The following prices were reported by MONOCHROME and SJX in 2020 as Cramain launch prices. SJX said they excluded taxes; they are not current offers or current price guidance.

Edition size and delivery timing
The Mark II was reported as a 12-piece edition. MONOCHROME said first examples were expected in fall 2021. SJX reported that the first watch had been sold and was expected in the second half of 2021, with later pieces taking three to five months. These were plans stated around launch; the reports do not confirm that the full edition was delivered.
