The De Bethune DB25 Starry Varius Aérolite, reference DB25VTM, pairs a blue meteorite dial patterned as a night sky with a manual-winding movement and a 30-second tourbillon visible through the case back. De Bethune dates the watch to 2022. Its published specifications make the unusual display and construction clear; they do not, on their own, establish how the watch feels or performs on the wrist.
What the DB25VTM is
DB25VTM is the reference for this specific DB25 Starry Varius Aérolite, rather than a generic name for every Starry Varius. De Bethune’s heritage archive dates the model to 2022. Its defining contrast is visual and mechanical: a starry, blued meteorite dial on the front, and a fast-turning tourbillon display on the back.
The manufacturer says the watch is made in its workshops in L’Auberson, Switzerland. That is a company statement about its production; it is not an independent assessment of the process.
Case and dial: a meteorite night sky
The case is polished grade 5 titanium, 42 mm in diameter and 10.3 mm thick, with integrated hollowed lugs. An openworked back exposes the movement, while the front has a sapphire crystal with double anti-reflective coating. De Bethune’s technical sheet lists water resistance of 3 ATM; this is a modest rating, not a basis for treating the watch as suitable for swimming. These are manufacturer specifications, not observations of wear or durability.

The signature dial is made from blued and polished meteorite. De Bethune describes hand-fitted white-gold pins as the stars and 24-carat gold leaf as the material used for the Milky Way patterns. A silver-toned ring carries the hours and minutes, with hand-polished steel hands. The combination gives the dial its celestial theme without relying on a printed star field.
The material descriptions do not establish how easy the dial is to read in particular lighting, how the finishing looks in person, or how the case wears on different wrists. Those are hands-on judgments, not conclusions that follow from a specification sheet.

Movement and indications
The DB2109V4 is a mechanical, manual-winding calibre. De Bethune lists 260 components, 43 jewels and a 30 mm movement diameter. A self-regulating twin barrel supplies a stated four-day power reserve, and the movement runs at 36,000 vibrations per hour. These figures are from the brand’s English technical sheet; they are not independent timing or endurance results.
The display comprises hours, minutes and jumping seconds. The 30-second indication comes from the tourbillon cage on the back, so it is the reverse of the watch—not the dial side—that makes the tourbillon’s rotation part of the time display.

What the 30-second tourbillon means
De Bethune’s journal article says the cage completes one rotation every 30 seconds. It reports a carriage weight of 0.18 grams and 63 components, and describes the tourbillon as made from titanium and silicon. These are manufacturer-reported construction figures, not independently verified measurements.
The technical sheet also identifies a titanium balance wheel with white-gold inserts, a balance spring with a flat terminal curve, a silicon escape wheel and dead-beat seconds among the movement’s features. De Bethune labels the balance-wheel and balance-spring features as patents, dated 2016 and 2006 respectively, and describes the tourbillon as a 2008 innovation and dead-beat seconds as a 2011 innovation. These dates and descriptions reflect the manufacturer’s account; they do not establish a measured accuracy advantage for this particular watch.

What the published specifications do—and do not—tell you
DB25VTM’s specification sheet is unusually informative about its materials, movement architecture and display. It does not report a real-world accuracy result, and the available product information does not establish reliability, comfort, scratch resistance, servicing needs or performance after wear. Nor does a 30-second tourbillon rotation or a high beat rate alone demonstrate superior timekeeping. Those claims would require evidence beyond the stated design and specifications.
