E-Moonwatch Only was presented as a portable, identification-focused companion to the larger Moonwatch Only reference—not a digital replacement for all of the print book’s historical and technical detail. Its standout feature was a tool that used visible watch traits to narrow down possible Speedmaster Professional references. That makes it useful as a collector’s reference aid, but not a substitute for careful vintage-watch evaluation.
What is E-Moonwatch Only?
In a review published on 16 July 2017, Monochrome Watches described E-Moonwatch Only as an electronic guide by Grégoire Rossier and Anthony Marquié, the authors of Moonwatch Only. It was designed to help readers identify Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch models and component variations, with a more practical, portable format than the substantial print reference. Read the Monochrome Watches review.
The review said the guide covered models from 1957 through the lineup available at the time. Its component-level information included calibres, casebands, dials, bezels, hands, casebacks, crowns, pushers, crystals and bracelets. Tables included production dates, serial numbers, references, movements and caseback inscriptions.
How does its identification tool work?
The feature the review emphasized lets a reader select observable traits—including logo style, lugs, indexes, dial, caseback, bezel and hands—to narrow the range of possible references. In practice, that makes the guide an identification aid: it can help a reader organize clues and compare a watch with documented configurations.

- Famous Manual-winding Chronograph Movement that was Worn on the Moon
- Omega Mechanical Caliber 1861

It should not be treated as an authentication verdict. Monochrome reviewer Brice Goulard cautioned: “It will never prevent you from being extremely careful when buying a vintage piece.” A candidate match is a starting point for further inspection, not proof that a watch or its components are original.
How does the e-book compare with the print edition?
| Aspect | E-Moonwatch Only, as reviewed in 2017 | Print Moonwatch Only, as described in the review |
|---|---|---|
| Format | Electronic guide reported as readable on iPhone, iPad and Mac | Physical book; the review describes it as a 566-page reference |
| Emphasis | Portable, practical reference focused more on model identification | More extensive historical and technical reference |
| Identification tool | Includes a trait-based tool for narrowing possible references | Not stated in the review |
| Depth | Does not include all the print edition’s detail or historical information | Described as the more comprehensive edition |

The 2017 review reported that the print book was then available. These prices and availability statements are historical; current editions, stock and prices are not established here.

Which Speedmasters does it cover?
The scope is deliberately narrower than Omega chronographs as a whole. In response to a reader asking about automatic Speedmasters, Moonphase models, Mark models and other Omega chronographs, the review’s author said Moonwatch Only focuses solely on the Moonwatch—the Speedmaster Professional. Do not assume the guide is a general catalogue of every Speedmaster family or Omega chronograph.
Is E-Moonwatch Only still available on iBooks?
The review reported in 2017 that the e-book could be read on iPhone, iPad and Mac, and discussed it as an iBooks release. That is a historical platform statement, not confirmation that it remains listed or purchasable today. The review does not establish a current Apple Books listing or current price.

Who is the guide best for?
- Moonwatch collectors who want portability: The reviewed edition was intended as a convenient companion for looking up model and component clues.
- Readers comparing a vintage Speedmaster: Its trait-based identification tool and reference tables can help narrow possibilities, but should be one part of a careful assessment.
- Readers seeking maximum historical and technical depth: The print edition is the better fit according to the review, which says the e-book omits some of its detail and history.
- Readers researching other Omega chronographs: Its stated focus on the Moonwatch means it is not the broad Omega chronograph guide they need.
Verdict
E-Moonwatch Only was a focused digital companion for identifying Speedmaster Professional references, with portability and its trait-selection tool as its clearest strengths. Its limits are equally important: it is not as comprehensive as the print reference, does not cover the full range of Omega chronographs, and cannot certify a vintage watch’s authenticity. Because the review dates to 2017, its platform and price details should not be read as current availability information.
