The $719 black Apple Watch Ultra 2 and $38 Sony WH-CH520 headphones were genuine deals during the 2024 holiday-shopping period, but neither price is established as available now. The headline’s “15% off PS5 consoles” claim is not sufficiently specific or verified: no exact model, retailer, or discount terms are established. Treat these as historical deal claims, not a current shopping offer.
What the three deal claims amount to
| Claim | Exact item and price | Retailer and date | Status and key caveat |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apple Watch | Apple Watch Ultra 2 in black titanium, reported at $719, versus $799 at the time—a $80, roughly 10% reduction | Best Buy; reported November 28, 2024, with a holiday-doorbuster return reported December 19, 2024 | Historical, not verified live. The price depended on a qualifying color-and-band configuration. |
| PlayStation 5 | “15% off” without a specified console model or final price | Retailer and dates for this claim are not established | Unverified. Later Black Friday coverage described $100 off selected PS5 consoles, which does not verify this percentage claim. |
| Sony headphones | Sony WH-CH520 Bluetooth on-ear headphones at $38; deal sources put usual pricing around $60–$70, depending on date and source | Amazon; reported in 2024 | Historical, not verified live. This model has no active noise cancellation. |
Old deal pages can be updated, republished, or surfaced in search after the original sale ends. A historical report or search result is not proof that a checkout price is still available. Check the retailer’s live product page, exact configuration, seller, and final checkout total before buying.
Apple Watch Ultra 2 at $719: a real, configuration-specific 2024 deal
Best Buy’s reported holiday price was $719 for a qualifying black titanium Apple Watch Ultra 2 configuration, $80 below the $799 price cited in the November 2024 coverage. The offer appeared in Best Buy deal coverage on November 28, 2024, and was reported again among holiday doorbusters on December 19. Those reports describe a past promotion, not an August 2026 price. 9to5Mac’s November 2024 deal coverage and its December 2024 doorbuster update both matter because the latter noted that shoppers needed to choose the qualifying color and band; changing the configuration could change the price.
The Ultra 2 is a premium, large-format Apple smartwatch for iPhone owners who will use its rugged titanium construction, bright display, outdoor and fitness features, cellular capability, or diving- and depth-related hardware. Its larger battery capacity can also appeal to people who want longer use between charges than a standard Apple Watch offers. It is harder to justify if the main need is notifications and basic activity tracking, if you do not use an iPhone, or if a newer Ultra-generation model is close in price. Check Apple’s current lineup and pricing rather than assuming a 2024 Ultra 2 deal remains the best value: Apple Watch overview.

The cited coverage called the price a record or all-time low, but such labels can depend on the exact band, color, retailer, and coupon. The documented $719 price is evidence of a strong historical promotion; it does not establish an all-time low for every Ultra 2 configuration. The cited deal reports do not establish a membership requirement, stock condition, warranty terms, or return-policy terms for every listing. Confirm that any offer is for a new item from the retailer or an authorized seller, and check the precise return and warranty terms before checkout.
“15% off PS5 consoles”: not enough information to verify
No reliable evidence establishes the headline’s 15% figure as a universal PS5 discount. Without the retailer, promotion dates, console edition, and terms, it is impossible to tell whether the number meant a direct price cut, a coupon, member pricing, trade-in credit, bundle value, or a gift-card offer. It also does not identify whether the offer applied to a PS5 Slim with disc drive, Slim Digital Edition, PS5 Pro, or a bundle.

- Always‑On Retina LTPO OLED display
Later Black Friday coverage described $100 reductions on selected PS5 consoles, but that is a separate promotion and does not substantiate the headline’s 15% claim. The later promotion report does not establish the exact terms of the earlier claim. Before treating any console offer as a deal, compare the final price for the exact edition with its recent selling price; subtract no trade-in or gift-card value unless you can use it and are willing to meet its conditions.
- Look for a direct checkout markdown. A lower price on the product itself is easier to compare than a delayed gift card or trade-in credit.
- Check the edition. A Digital Edition cannot play physical discs; a disc-drive model offers more flexibility for used and physical games. Do not compare a PS5 Pro with a Slim as if they were identical products.
- Inspect bundles. A current first-party game or useful second controller can add value, but an unwanted or older game may not make a bundle worthwhile.
- Evaluate a Pro for your setup and games. Display quality, frame-rate preferences, and support in the games you play matter more than a percentage-off label; a standard 1080p display or games without enhanced Pro support may make the upgrade poor value.
- Check conditions and availability. Confirm seller, region, stock, shipping, membership rules, and whether a quoted saving relies on an outdated list price.
If you already own a PS5, a small discount alone is not a reason to upgrade. Verify the exact offer through the retailer’s live listing or PlayStation Direct’s U.S. storefront; Target’s current top-deals page is another place to check, but neither page confirms the historical 15% claim.

Sony WH-CH520 at $38: an inexpensive wireless set, not noise-canceling headphones
The $38 deal was for Sony’s WH-CH520, a Bluetooth on-ear model documented at Amazon in 2024. It is a basic, lightweight wireless headphone with a built-in microphone, USB-C charging, multipoint pairing, and EQ customization through Sony’s Headphones Connect app. Sony advertises up to 50 hours of battery life; actual runtime varies with use and settings, and deal coverage has reported more than 55 hours under particular conditions. See Sony’s WH-CH520 product specifications, the 2024 deal report, and the listing identifying the $38 model.
Most importantly, the WH-CH520 does not have active noise cancellation. Its on-ear fit also does not provide the same coverage as an over-ear design. At $38, it can suit casual listening, calls, children or teens, and buyers who value long battery life and the ability to connect to multiple devices. It is a poor match for airplane travel or noisy commutes if you need active noise cancellation or strong isolation; it may also disappoint listeners seeking premium bass or materials, or anyone who needs water resistance. Sony’s headphone range includes more advanced models, but the WH-CH520 should not be judged as though it were one of its premium noise-canceling headphones.

- FOR ENDURANCE ATHLETES - Advanced metrics in the Workout app, including Heart Rate Zones and Running Form. Precision dual-frequency GPS for accuracy, distance, route, and pace calculations. Trail Loop band is thin, light, and flexible, designed especially for runners.

Backtrack uses GPS to map where you’ve been so you can retrace your steps. Alpine Loop band is extremely rugged and secure to meet the needs of hikers and climbers.
The $38 price is historical, not a verified current Amazon offer. One later deal report dated June 2026 also described a $38 price, but a repeat promotion does not guarantee current stock or price: June 2026 deal report. The researched $69.99 Sony price signal and other estimates around $60–$70 are reference points from different sources and dates, not a guaranteed current regular price. Amazon prices can vary by color, seller, and fulfillment method. Confirm the seller and warranty coverage, especially if the listing is not from Sony or an authorized retailer.
Should you buy now or wait?
- WH-CH520: If you find the exact model new at $38 and need simple everyday wireless headphones, that is a historically documented price worth considering. Skip it if your priority is ANC, over-ear isolation, or water resistance.
- Apple Watch Ultra 2: The $719 Best Buy price was a strong historical discount for a qualifying configuration, but it is not a live offer established here. Compare the current price with newer Ultra models and confirm the band, seller, condition, and return terms.
- PS5: Wait for a specific, verifiable listing before acting on “15% off.” Compare the final checkout price for the exact model and promotion terms, not a headline percentage.
For all three products, verify the active listing and effective price—including tax, shipping, coupon, membership, and any delayed rebate—rather than relying on a search snippet or an old deal page.
