Eberhard & Co.’s Contodat is a 2025 collection inspired by a 1970s watch, offered in two distinct versions: the time-and-date Automatic and the chronograph-equipped Chronographe. Both are listed by the maker with 39 mm cases, integrated steel bracelets and 100 m water resistance; their dial layouts and functions are different.
What is the Contodat?
Eberhard & Co. describes Contodat as a contemporary interpretation of a 1970s timepiece. The Automatic page adds that the historical watch was originally available only as a chronograph. The company says the new collection brings sporty details together with classic styling and color.
In the maker’s words: “Inspired by a 1970s Eberhard & Co. timepiece that defied the rise of quartz, Contodat collection—that includes a Chronograph and an Automatic version—blends sporty features with an air of classicism and a touch of color.” The quotation appears on the official Contodat collection page.
The collection page describes alternating polished and satin finishes on the case and integrated steel bracelet, with soleil and azuré dial finishes. Eberhard & Co. says the collection was unveiled in 2025. Its official collection overview lists the Automatic and Chronographe as separate versions.

Specifications are maker-reported. The Chronographe’s movement and 13.90 mm thickness are tied to the cited Japanese reference page, not established here as specifications for every Chronographe variant.
What the Automatic offers
The Automatic is the simpler of the two in function: it is an automatically wound mechanical watch with hours, minutes, small seconds and a date. The small-seconds register sits at 9 o’clock, opposite a trapezoidal date display at 3. Eberhard & Co.’s Japanese page identifies the movement as SW 290-1 and shows dial colors by reference suffix. Consult the exact reference when matching a color or specification.

What the Chronographe adds
The Chronographe adds a central chronograph-seconds hand and a minute counter at 3 o’clock. Its small-seconds register is at 9, while the date moves to 6. The official technical sheet describes an extended reading on the minute-counter scale from 30 to 45 minutes, alongside the usual elapsed-time display.
The Chronographe technical sheet also names a screw-down crown and caseback, domed sapphire glass with anti-reflective treatment, and luminous hands and markers. It advises against operating the chronograph pushers in water and says water resistance is guaranteed only under normal conditions. A 100 m rating should not be taken as permission to use the pushers underwater.

Shared case and bracelet details
Eberhard & Co.’s collection page lists 39 mm case diameters and 100 m water resistance for both versions. It describes integrated steel bracelets fitted with the maker’s 2CLICK clasp. The page describes alternating polished and satin surfaces on the case and bracelet, while the dials use soleil and azuré finishes.
Those collection-wide details do not replace reference-level specifications: the cited Chronographe page is the source for the 13.90 mm thickness and SW 510 BH movement of reference 31156.CA2C.01. The available Automatic listing gives the SW 290-1 movement, but does not establish a thickness figure.

What to check before choosing a reference
- Choose by function: the Automatic provides time and date; the Chronographe adds elapsed-time measurement.
- Check the dial layout: the Automatic places the date at 3 o’clock, while the Chronographe places it at 6 and uses the 3 o’clock position for its minute counter.
- Verify the exact reference: the maker lists multiple references, and specific movement, thickness and dial-color details should be matched to the reference rather than assumed across the line.
- Confirm price and local availability with a seller: the official material establishes neither current pricing nor country-by-country stock, retailer authorization, or warranty and service terms.
