Verdict: The Even Realities G2 are best understood as ordinary-looking prescription glasses with a useful monochrome information layer—not as a phone replacement, full AR headset, camera, or pair of smart headphones. Their discreet heads-up display, excellent Teleprompt feature, translation, navigation, and meeting tools make them unusually practical for presenters, travelers, and glasses wearers who want glanceable information. The trade-off is heavy dependence on a phone and internet connection, plus software reliability that still needs improvement.
As of August 16, 2026, the G2 starts at $599 in the US. That price is easiest to justify if you will use the display regularly, especially for teleprompting. Buyers wanting music, calls, photography, video, offline operation, or immersive color AR should look elsewhere.
What are the Even Realities G2?
The G2 are lightweight smart glasses with dual monochrome micro-LED displays built into the lenses. They show short text, prompts, navigation cues, translated captions, notifications, and AI responses in your field of view while you continue looking at the real world.
They include microphones for voice commands and AI functions, but no camera and no built-in speakers. Audio therefore comes from the phone or your surroundings rather than from the frames. Even describes the G2 on its official product page as a display-focused wearable, and its prescription information confirms the camera-free design.

#1 Best Overall
- #1 SELLING AI GLASSES - Tap into iconic style for men and women, and advanced technology with the newest generation of Ray-Ban Meta smart AI glasses. Capture photos and video recordings, listen to music, make hands-free calls or ask Meta AI questions on-the-go.
- UP TO 8 HOURS OF BATTERY LIFE - On a full charge, these smart AI glasses can last 2x longer than previous generations, up to 8 hours with moderate use. Plus, each pair comes with a charging case that provides up to 48 hours of charging on-the-go.
- 3K ULTRA HD: RECORD SHARP VIDEOS WITH RICH DETAIL — Hands-free video recording with an ultra-wide 12 MP camera in up to 3K resolution. Record clips up to 3 minutes per session. Capture sharp, vibrant memories while staying in the moment.
- LISTEN WITH OPEN-EAR AUDIO — Listen to music and more with discreet open-ear speakers that deliver rich, quality audio without blocking out conversations or the ambient noises around you.
- ASK YOUR GLASSES ANYTHING WITH META AI — Get real-time suggestions, answers, object identification, and reminders hands-free. Requires Bluetooth connection to your smartphone and the Meta AI app. Ensure your phone has internet connectivity.
Calling them “AR glasses” without qualification can create the wrong expectation. The G2 are not designed for video, colorful 3D objects, immersive games, or a large virtual screen. They are closer to a private, glanceable text display attached to everyday eyewear.
Price and configuration
The US pricing snapshot from August 2026 is:
- Even Realities G2: from $599.
- Prescription lenses: from $159 on the cited US product listing, with pricing varying by lens and prescription.
- Even R1 ring: $249.
- G2 plus R1: $848 before prescription upgrades, taxes, shipping, or accessories.
The G2 A and G2 B are the two frame configurations listed in Even’s US store. An optional clip-and-pouch accessory was listed at $99.
The R1 is not required. It provides discreet control and scrolling, but it adds a substantial 42% to the starting price of the glasses. Buy it only if hands-free control matters to your daily use.
What changed from the Even G1?
The G2 is a meaningful hardware update rather than a cosmetic second generation. WIRED reports a display area approximately 75% larger than the G1, sharper Even HAO 2.0 optics, brightness up to 1,200 nits, and battery endurance improved from roughly one and a half days to two days under its usage conditions. The G2 also adds IP65 water and dust resistance, broader reported prescription support from −12.00 to +12.00 diopters, optional R1 control, and expanded AI and utility features. See WIRED’s review for the reported G1 comparison.

Those are important improvements, but “two days” is not a promise of two days of continuous display use. Teleprompt, translation, AI requests, weak Bluetooth, and poor cellular conditions can all reduce endurance.
Display: useful information, not entertainment
Tom’s Guide lists a micro-LED display with a 640 × 200 virtual screen, approximately 1,000 nits of perceived brightness, a 20-Hz refresh rate, and a 25-degree field of view. WIRED reports a maximum brightness figure of up to 1,200 nits. These figures may use different measurement terminology rather than contradicting one another. The relevant specifications are summarized in the Tom’s Guide review.
The display works best for:
- Short notifications and reminders.
- Turn-by-turn navigation prompts.
- Translation captions.
- Brief AI answers and contextual prompts.
- Teleprompter scripts.
- Meeting notes and preparation cues.
It is not a comfortable replacement for a phone when reading long documents, watching video, viewing detailed maps, or consuming full-color content. The limited monochrome interface is a strength when information must be brief and glanceable, but a limitation when detail matters.

- 【AI Real-Time Translation】The INMO GO3 smart glasses is equipped with a powerful AI translation engine that supports real-time translation for two-way conversations. Text display instantly in your eyes, and with rapid response times and ultra-low latency, freeing you from phone so you can focus on natural conversation
- 【98 Languages Covered】Beyond common languages such as English, Spanish, French, and German, these translation glasses also support real-time translation for a wider range of languages, including Kinyarwanda, Tongan, and Icelandic—for a total of 98 languages
- 【Invisible Teleprompter Glasses】Utilizing IMAR optical technology, the downward angle of the waveguide and the forward angle of the frame have been adjusted so that others cannot see the screen content whether you are looking straight ahead, down, or to the side. Perfect for speeches and presentations
- 【Navigation & Hearing Assistance】With built-in HERE Maps, you don’t have to keep looking down at your phone—the navigation arrows are right in front of you through the AR glasses. Plus, the real-time captioning feature provides truly convenient communication assistance for the hearing impaired
- 【8MP HD】The inmo GO3 glasses are equipped with an 8MP HD camera that allows you to take POV videos and images. You can also use the camera for photo translation—simply snap a photo of a menu, street sign, or document, and get an instant translation.
Brightness figures also need practical context. WIRED found the display difficult to read in bright light. Indoor use and moderate outdoor light are more favorable than direct sunlight. Visibility is only one part of the experience: display placement, comfort, natural eye movement, and cognitive distraction determine whether a feature is genuinely useful.
Design and all-day wear
The G2’s strongest hardware argument is that they look more like glasses than a wearable computer. WIRED and Tom’s Guide report a weight of approximately 1.26 ounces, with a lightweight magnesium-and-titanium construction cited by WIRED.
That does not guarantee universal all-day comfort. Fit depends on frame shape, bridge and nose-pad pressure, prescription alignment, temple thickness, and whether the display sits in a naturally accessible position for your face. Some wearers may notice thicker temples or pressure during long sessions even if the overall weight is low. The glasses also need to remain stable while walking; slipping frames can make the display harder to use.
Before treating them as exercise eyewear, remember that IP65 is a water- and dust-resistance rating, not waterproofing. The G2 should be suitable for limited water jets and dusty conditions under laboratory assumptions, but not swimming, showering, or submersion. Sweat, saltwater, sunscreen, and harsh cleaning chemicals can still damage the frames or lenses. The charging case may have a different resistance rating.
Prescription support: check this before ordering
The G2 are particularly compelling for people who already wear glasses, but prescription ordering has important restrictions.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Non-prescription lenses are available.
- Single-vision prescriptions can currently be ordered online.
- Progressive and highly individualized UltraFit lenses may require an authorized optician partner.
- Even lists three high-index lens choices.
- You need a current prescription and pupillary-distance measurement.
- Even says the display waveguide is integrated into the prescription optical unit.
Even’s purchasing support page and prescription page should be checked for current regional availability. The online ordering distinction matters: “supports progressive prescriptions” does not necessarily mean every progressive buyer can order directly online.
Important buying risk: Even’s return policy says prescription glasses generally cannot be canceled after 24 hours or returned, except for defects handled under warranty. Non-customized products may generally be returned within 14 days of delivery subject to the policy’s conditions. If you cannot try the G2 locally, verify the prescription, PD, frame fit, and optician route before placing a customized order.

A built-in 290mAh battery delivers long-lasting power for full-day use, fitting perfectly with all scenes of daily life, work and outdoor adventures.
Teleprompt is the G2’s clearest reason to exist
Teleprompt is more than a novelty for people who regularly speak in public. Tom’s Guide reports that the feature displays a script and synchronizes text with the wearer’s speaking pace.
It is especially useful for presenters, teachers, lecturers, sales demonstrators, video creators, interview subjects, speakers, and anyone practicing public speaking. Keeping the text near eye level can help preserve eye contact better than repeatedly looking down at a phone or laptop.
Its practical success depends on details: how easily a script can be imported or prepared, whether text size is readable, how scrolling speed is adjusted, and how well speech tracking handles pauses, skipped lines, repetitions, or going off-script. Bright rooms can reduce readability, while continuous display use can increase battery drain.
Teleprompt should not be treated as fail-safe for an important presentation. Keep a printed or phone-based backup in case speech tracking loses its position, the connection fails, the display becomes difficult to read, or the script does not advance as expected.
AI features and phone dependence
The G2’s AI is phone-connected rather than fully autonomous. TechRadar reports limited onboard computing, with the smartphone handling connectivity, processing, and some cloud-based AI requests. Even’s current support documentation says that all G2 functions currently require both Bluetooth and an internet connection.
Depending on the current app version and region, the feature set includes:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- Even AI: general questions, contextual explanations, and prompts.
- Conversate: assistance during conversations and contextual information.
- Translate: translated text or captions.
- Meeting support: notes, summaries, and contextual prompts.
- Prep notes: documents or notes supplied before a meeting for AI reference.
- Perplexity integration: available only where supported by the current app configuration and region.
TechCrunch reports that manually added notes or documents can provide context and that the glasses can display short explanatory bubbles during conversations. This is useful when answers are brief enough to fit the display. It is less useful when you need the depth, speed, or flexibility of a full phone-based chatbot.

Powered by Sony’s 0.55' Micro-OLED display technology and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, get swept into your games or movies with immersion that rivals traditional home theaters—without the size, setup, or space concerns.
AI responses can be slow or wrong. Do not rely on the G2 for medical, legal, financial, or safety-critical decisions. Conversational AI also raises privacy and consent questions even without a camera.
Navigation and notifications
The G2 can show turn-by-turn directions and a simplified map-like interface. That is useful for quick turns and orientation without repeatedly taking out your phone. It is less useful at complex intersections, after route changes, or in dense unfamiliar environments where a detailed map is necessary.
Navigation remains dependent on the phone and internet, and it can become distracting. Do not read the display while driving, crossing busy roads, cycling in traffic, or operating machinery. TechCrunch also reported that phone-notification pop-ups were not always reliable, so the G2 should not be treated as a dependable channel for urgent work alerts.
Battery life: probably a workday device, not a two-day intensive computer
Even and reviewers describe roughly two-day battery endurance, while WIRED reports a clear improvement over the G1. However, the number is usage-dependent, and TechCrunch did not test the full two-day claim.
| Use pattern | Likely battery effect |
|---|---|
| Ordinary eyewear with minimal display use | Best-case endurance |
| Occasional notifications and navigation | Moderate drain |
| Continuous Teleprompt | Much heavier display use |
| Translation or Conversate | Additional microphone, phone, network, and AI activity |
| Frequent AI queries | Higher phone and glasses consumption |
| Weak Bluetooth or cellular conditions | Potentially greater connection-related drain |
The practical conclusion is that the G2 will probably last through a normal mixed-use workday, but current evidence does not establish two full days of continuous Teleprompt, translation, or AI use.
Controls and the Even R1 ring
The glasses can be controlled without buying the ring. The optional Even R1 connects to the phone through Bluetooth and pairs with the G2 through the app, allowing discreet scrolling and menu control without touching the frames or phone. Even’s product listing currently indicates that the R1 supports interaction only with the Even G2.
At $249, the R1 makes the most sense for frequent users who need discreet control during presentations, meetings, or navigation. It is difficult to justify for occasional notifications. Ring sizing uses Even’s own system, has no half sizes, and requires a sizing kit recommendation; see Even’s purchasing guidance.

Privacy and social acceptability
The absence of a camera is a major advantage. There is no obvious camera lens or recording light, and the glasses are less likely to create the privacy concerns associated with camera-equipped smart glasses. The lack of built-in speakers also means they do not broadcast audio to people nearby.
But no camera does not mean no privacy risk. The microphones can process voice commands and conversation-related AI, and some requests may involve cloud services. Before using the G2 in a workplace, classroom, medical setting, or confidential meeting, check:
- What audio is sent to the phone or cloud.
- How long recordings or transcriptions are retained.
- Whether microphones or AI features can be disabled.
- Which Bluetooth, microphone, notification, location, and contact permissions the app requests.
- Whether workplace policy requires disclosure or prohibits voice processing.
The G2 are more socially acceptable than camera-equipped glasses, but they should not be described as automatically privacy-safe.
How the G2 compares with other smart-glasses categories
The G2’s closest alternatives are not identical products; they represent different priorities.

| Even Realities G2 | Private text, Teleprompt, lightweight everyday prescription wear | — |
| Camera-and-audio smart glasses | Photos, video, music, calls, hands-free audio | No camera, less intrusive public use |
| RayNeo X3 Pro | Full-color AR, Gemini-powered AI, cameras, spatial interfaces | Lower starting price, simpler and more discreet design |
The RayNeo X3 Pro was listed at $1,169 on sale, with a regular price of $1,299, and targets buyers wanting full-color MicroLED AR, Snapdragon AR1 hardware, Gemini-powered AI, camera features, and a broader visual interface. It is the more ambitious AR device, but likely a poorer fit for buyers prioritizing ordinary-looking eyewear, privacy, and lower cost.
Who should buy the Even Realities G2?
- Presenters and teachers: Yes, particularly if Teleprompt is central and a backup script is acceptable.
- Prescription-glasses users: Yes, if the fit, prescription process, and return restrictions work for you.
- Privacy-conscious buyers: Potentially, because there is no camera or speaker—but review microphone and workplace policies first.
- Frequent travelers: Potentially, for translation and navigation, provided phone and internet access are available.
- Music and call users: No. There are no built-in speakers.
- Photography users: No. There is no camera.
- Offline users: No. Even currently says Bluetooth and internet are required for all functions.
- Immersive-AR buyers: No. The display is monochrome and text-focused.
Final buying advice
Buy the G2 alone if discreet notifications, navigation, translation, and Teleprompt are your priorities. Add the R1 only when touch-free control is worth $249. Choose prescription lenses only after confirming your prescription, PD, frame fit, regional ordering route, and the restrictive return policy.
Choose a fuller AR product such as the RayNeo X3 Pro if you specifically want color, cameras, and a richer spatial interface. Choose camera-and-audio glasses if your priority is recording, music, calls, or hands-free audio. If what you really want is a phone replacement, headphones, or a camera, the G2 is the wrong product category.
