The Excelsior Park EP 884-SI is the clearest place to start with the revived watch brand: a slim, hand-wound, time-only watch with vintage-informed styling. The Bi Compax models add chronograph functions in a thicker case, while the Tuxedo is another chronograph configuration with a different movement and specification set. The name has real roots in Swiss watchmaking, but the modern brand is not the same operating manufacturer as the historic firm.
Is Excelsior Park the same company as the historic watchmaker?
No. Excelsior Park’s official history traces the name to St-Imier, Switzerland, and describes the historic firm as a specialist in stopwatches and chronographs. The brand says it continued production into the 1970s, disappeared around 1983–1984 after the Quartz Crisis, and that German supplier Flume acquired naming rights in 1986 and produced a small series of chronographs. These are the brand’s own historical claims, rather than independently corroborated history. See the Excelsior Park history.
The same account says historic Excelsior Park movements were supplied to or used by companies including Zenith, Girard-Perregaux and Gallet. It cites Zenith wrist chronographs from 1938 using EP 42 calibres and an orientation-hand chronograph from 1945 later marketed by Gallet and Zenith as the Sextant. That lineage gives the revived brand historical context; it does not mean its current watches use those vintage calibres or come from the original manufacturer.
What is the EP 884-SI?
The EP 884-SI is a three-hand, time-only collection with six model variants, different dial and strap combinations, and a 38 mm 316L stainless-steel case. Excelsior Park specifies a manual-wind Landeron L21 calibre, about 40 hours of power reserve and a 9.45 mm case thickness. The brand says “884” refers to the year St-Imier was founded and “SI” to Saint-Imier. In a hands-on review published July 26, 2024, Balazs Ferenczi of Fratello Watches reported a 46.2 mm lug-to-lug measurement, sapphire crystal, 28,800 vibrations per hour, 17 jewels and 10 ATM water resistance, alongside the case and movement details. These are published specifications, not results of testing for this article. The review describes four dial colors across the six variants, with leather strap or beads-of-rice bracelet options.
How does the EP 884-SI wear?
The 38 mm diameter and 46.2 mm lug-to-lug length offer more useful fit context than diameter alone, but neither measurement guarantees how it will sit on a particular wrist. Its 9.45 mm thickness makes it the slimmer option among the documented watches here. Ferenczi found the large crown easy to use and the dial legible despite the absence of lume. Those are his observations, not universal wear or visibility tests. He summed up his subjective view by calling it “a lovely timepiece” that works in both formal and casual settings. How does the EP 884-SI compare with the Bi Compax?
The practical distinction is straightforward: the EP 884-SI displays the time, while the Bi Compax adds chronograph functionality. The Bi Compax Black and Reverse Panda share a reported 38.9 mm case, but are thicker and longer lug-to-lug than the EP 884-SI in the published review measurements.

The EP 884-SI’s thinner profile favors someone seeking a simpler, lower-profile watch; the Bi Compax is the documented choice for chronograph functions and a thicker wrist presence. The Tuxedo’s stated 5 ATM rating and Sellita movement apply to that listed configuration, not to every Excelsior Park chronograph. Consider it if you want a compact, hand-wound, time-only watch with vintage-inspired design and are comfortable choosing between leather and a beads-of-rice bracelet. Its published dimensions make it the slimmer option in this comparison, and the reviewer’s comments support its versatility as a subjective impression—not a guarantee that it will suit every wrist or setting.
Choose a Bi Compax instead if you specifically want chronograph functionality and accept a case nearly 14 mm thick. Consider the Tuxedo separately rather than assuming it has the same movement or water resistance as the Bi Compax: its listed specification names the Sellita SW510 M BH b, a 63-hour reserve and 5 ATM resistance. For any model, verify the current configuration, price and purchase terms directly before ordering.
