Fears made 25 Brunswick 40 “1846 Edition” watches for its 180th anniversary and British Watchmakers’ Day on 7 March 2026. The launch price was £4,350 including VAT, and the edition was offered at the event. Fears’ page invites inquiries about a waitlist, but it does not confirm that any watches remain or that a waitlist is currently open. The model pairs a dial inspired by the company’s first pocket watch, made in 1846, with the Brunswick’s cushion case shape, which Fears traces to a 1924 watch in its archive.
What is the Brunswick 40 “1846 Edition”?
It is a limited-edition manual-winding dress watch from British brand Fears. The name marks the company’s 180th anniversary: Fears says its founder, Edwin Fear, made his first pocket watch in 1846, and that watch inspired this model’s dial. The edition was created for the Alliance of British Watch & Clock Makers’ British Watchmakers’ Day on 7 March 2026. Fears announced a run of 25 individually numbered pieces and an original price of £4,350 including VAT. Fears’ launch page describes the event offer and the design.
How does it translate the historical references?
The 1846 reference is chiefly expressed through the dial and its details. The dial is white, with a layered, hand-polished lacquer construction described by Fears as enamel-style. Black Roman numerals frame a large recessed subsidiary-seconds display at six o’clock, while thermally blued spade-shaped hands echo historical examples in the company’s archive. Fears presents the numerals and maker’s mark as a recreation of late-1840s dial details.
The case draws on a separate point in the brand’s history: Fears says the Brunswick’s cushion silhouette takes inspiration from a gentleman’s cushion-case watch first made in 1924. The two dates therefore refer to different design sources—1846 for the dial inspiration, 1924 for the case form.

The case is polished 925 sterling silver. Fears says the case and solid caseback carry London Assay Office hallmarks, and that the diamond set in the onion-shaped crown signals a case made entirely from precious metal. Its product copy identifies “NBS,” the managing director Nicholas Bowman-Scargill’s initials, as the maker’s mark. These are Fears’ explanations of the watch’s marks and design.

What movement does it use?
The watch uses the manually wound, Swiss-made La Joux-Perret G121M. Fears calls it a new calibre for this edition and says its layout moves the seconds mechanism farther from the centre, making room for the enlarged sub-seconds display. The company identifies this as the top-grade version and gives a 60-hour power reserve. It displays hours, minutes and subsidiary seconds; it has no date display listed in the specification.
