The Albishorn Thundergraph is a modern, vintage-style monopusher chronograph built around an imagined backstory: a watch that might have been conceived for the 1952 Swiss Everest expedition. It was not a watch from that expedition. Its defining details are a petroleum-blue “California ghost” dial, an oversized bidirectional 60-minute bezel and a hand-wound, COSC-certified movement.
What is the Albishorn Thundergraph?
Albishorn presents the Thundergraph as an alpine-exploration chronograph with a deliberately hypothetical history. Monochrome Watches describes Albishorn as a concept brand founded by Sebastien Chaulmontet, with Fabien Collioud as design collaborator, and calls the Thundergraph the brand’s third watch after concepts inspired by a regatta chronograph and a hypothetical ancestor to a military pilot’s chronograph. Those are Monochrome’s descriptions of the brand’s history and concept. Monochrome Watches’ 2025 launch feature and Hodinkee’s 2025 introduction both make clear that the 1952 connection is an imaginative design premise, not a claim of expedition-era provenance.
The launch coverage situates that premise around the Swiss expedition led by Dr. Edouard Wyss-Dunant. It reports that Raymond Lambert and Tenzing Norgay reached 8,595 metres before turning back. That figure is reported here as watch-industry launch coverage, rather than independently verified expedition history. The caseback motif is described as referencing the Swiss Foundation for Alpine Research emblem; that design reference likewise does not make the Thundergraph a historical expedition watch.
Design: a petroleum-blue dial and oversized timing bezel
The original launch model combines a sunburst petroleum-blue dial with Albishorn’s “California ghost dial” treatment: gilt Roman numerals occupy the upper half, while the dial omits the usual Arabic-numeral lower half. A bidirectional bezel, larger than the case itself, carries an engraved 60-minute scale. The offset crown and monopusher reinforce the watch’s unusual chronograph layout.

Time is shown by central hours and minutes, with small seconds at 4:30. The chronograph uses central seconds and a 30-minute counter at 7:30. At launch, Monochrome reported petroleum-blue and beige leather strap options fitted with quick-release spring bars.

The reported 39 mm case may sound compact, but the 42.7 mm bezel extends beyond it, making the bezel the broader visual measure. The 47.7 mm lug-to-lug and 12 mm thickness provide additional context for how the watch is sized; those figures are launch specifications, not a substitute for trying it on.

How the monopusher movement works
The ALB03 M is described in launch coverage as a hand-wound, COSC-certified monopusher chronograph. A monopusher combines chronograph start, stop and reset commands in one pusher rather than separating them across multiple buttons. Its 30-minute counter suits timing shorter intervals, while the reported 65-hour power reserve indicates the movement’s stated running time after a full wind. Monochrome says the calibre uses modified 7750 architecture based on the Sellita SW510M Mp.
Thundergraph versus Thundergraph Khumbu
The Thundergraph Khumbu is a later, distinct interpretation—not simply a name for the original petroleum-blue model. Europa Star’s April 2026 press-release coverage describes the Khumbu with a mint-green opaline dial and, for the first time in the line, a steel bracelet option. It reports the same 39 mm case diameter, 47.7 mm lug-to-lug, 12 mm thickness with sapphire, 100 m water resistance and ALB03 M movement.
