The Alpina Alpiner Extreme Automatic Freeride World Tour Special Edition is a co-branded steel sports watch, reference AL-525FWT3AE6, distinguished by a Freeride World Tour dial emblem and an engraved caseback. It pairs a 39 × 40.5 mm case with Alpina’s automatic AL-525 movement, a stated 38-hour power reserve and 200-metre water-resistance rating. It launched in December 2025; launch coverage describes it as non-limited and reports a suggested retail price of €1,695.
What is the Freeride World Tour Special Edition?
Alpina calls the model the “Extreme Automatic Freeride World Tour Special Edition”; the Freeride World Tour (FWT) uses “Alpiner Extreme Automatic FWT Special Edition.” Its reference is AL-525FWT3AE6, which identifies this collaboration rather than other Alpiner Extreme Automatic configurations. The launch came in December 2025, not earlier in the year. Alpina and the FWT describe it as marking the ninth year of their partnership. Alpina’s product page and the FWT announcement describe the watch and collaboration; Time and Watches’ 10 December 2025 launch coverage dates the release.
What the partnership adds
The FWT emblem is an embossed motif on the dial, while the caseback has an exclusive freeriding-themed engraving. Those are the edition’s defining visual differences, rather than a separate movement or performance specification. The FWT says it has organized mountain sports events since 1996 and that Xtreme Verbier became a world series in 2008; those are the organization’s own historical claims. Its announcement describes the collaboration as continuing a partnership into its ninth year.
Case, dial and wearing details
Alpina lists a three-part stainless-steel case measuring 39 × 40.5 mm and 11.5 mm thick, with brushed and polished surfaces. The gray dial has a triangular pattern in negative relief. A black rubber strap closes with a folding clasp and push buttons. The watch has a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment, luminous hands and indices, and a screwed crown clad in rubber. These are manufacturer-listed specifications, not results from independent testing. Alpina’s regional product page describes the case, dial and components.

#1 Best Overall
- Harking back to its roots, this Alpiner Extreme Automatic features a radiant glacier-hued dial that strikes the perfect balance between blue and light grey, evoking the spirit of the mountains. Housed in a compact, cushion-shaped 39x40.5mm steel case, the timepiece exudes subtle and discreetly sporty elegance.
- Its beating heart is the self-winding AL-525 caliber boasting a 38-hour power reserve. Decorated with the triangular Alpine summit pattern, the dial displays the date at 3 o'clock and sports three hands.
- Like the hour markers, the hours and minutes hands come with a luminous coating to ensure optimum readability even in the dark, and the crown at 3 o'clock is fitted with a rubber grip, making it very easy to get hold of.
- Meanwhile the dial, the seconds hand counterweight, the crown and the bezel screws all feature a perfect triangle a nod to Alpinas logo symbolizing the snow-capped Alpine summits.
- Water resistant to 200M.
Alpina calls this the smaller of the two Alpiner Extreme case diameters and says the size is intended to fit beneath a jacket sleeve or long gloves. The brand says the gray bezel recalls Alpine rock and describes the strap as resistant to cold, shock and UV exposure. Those are design intentions and brand claims; they do not establish how the watch or strap performs in a particular environment.
Movement, functions and water resistance
The automatic AL-525 calibre is specified at 28,800 alternations per hour, with 26 jewels and a 38-hour power reserve. Its listed functions are hours, minutes, central seconds and a date display at 3 o’clock. Launch reporting says the AL-525 is based on the Sellita SW200-1; Alpina’s product page identifies the calibre as AL-525. The 38-hour figure is the manufacturer’s stated reserve, not a guarantee of running time in every circumstance.
Rank #2
- The Alpiner Extreme Regulator Automatic is the perfect rugged sport watch
- Offset Hours, Central Minutes, Small Seconds
- Silver-Tone Stainless Steel 41mm Case
- Anti-Reflective Sapphire Crystal
- 200M Water Resistant and Limited Warranty
Alpina rates the watch at 20 ATM, or 200 metres, of water resistance. That is a specification, not an independent water test or a blanket recommendation for every water activity. The product page does not establish a particular use case beyond the rating.
Price and availability
Time and Watches reported a suggested retail price of €1,695 at launch in December 2025. The FWT announcement and Alpina’s Canadian product page also display €1,695. Treat that as a published price, not a promise of the current price in every market: taxes, local pricing, stock and delivery may vary. Alpina’s page is region-specific, so check the listing for your market and confirm that it is reference AL-525FWT3AE6 before buying. Launch coverage describes the model as a non-limited special edition; that does not guarantee that it is currently in stock.
Rank #3
- The Alpiner Extreme Automatic is a 41 x 42.5mm rugged sport watch.
- At the heart of the design, a strong brushed-finish cushion case featuring a black dial with a date window at 3 o'clock and a see-through case-back.
- The integrated black rubber strap (with no joining link with the case), made of textured rubber offers as much comfort as strength and modernity.
- The rubber grip allows for ease of handling with bare hands or with gloves.
- WR to 200M.
How it differs from other Alpiner Extreme Automatic versions
The FWT version’s clearly documented distinction is its collaboration styling: an embossed FWT dial emblem and freeriding-themed caseback engraving. Its listed size, movement, reserve and water-resistance rating provide useful points for comparing it with another configuration, but there is no head-to-head performance test establishing that one version performs better.
