The Armin Strom Tribute² Copper Edition pairs a hand-finished, visibly exposed movement with a comparatively compact 38 mm stainless-steel case. Announced on 2 December 2024 in a run of just 10 pieces, it is distinguished by a copper-colored, hand-scraped mainplate and the brand’s hand-wound AMW21 calibre, which Armin Strom rates for a 100-hour power reserve. The official product page currently lists the edition as out of stock.
What is the Armin Strom Tribute² Copper Edition?
It is a limited-edition version of Armin Strom’s open-worked Tribute², reference ST24-TRI.HM.AC.M.A4.FC. The brand announced it on 2 December 2024 as a 10-piece edition, sold exclusively through Armin Strom. Rather than conceal most of the mechanics beneath a conventional dial, the design makes the movement’s architecture and finishing central to the watch’s appearance.
The effect is deliberately balanced: the movement is presented in depth, while the case measures 38 mm across. The dial is off-center and grey fumé, leaving much of the movement visible. Copper tone, dark steel and grey create the main visual contrast.
What makes the copper finish distinctive?
The mainplate has a copper-colored PVD finish and hand-applied grattage decoration. Armin Strom describes grattage as a technique in which material is scraped by hand, creating a textured surface rather than a uniform coating. The brand pairs it with a black-polished steel barrel bridge and hand-polished bevels on the three-quarter bridge.

The caseback is engraved “Horomariobro x Armin Strom.” According to the brand, macro photography of decorated movements by Horomariobro inspired co-founder and master watchmaker Claude Greisler to explore movement-finishing techniques. Armin Strom framed the Tribute² as a continuation of the Tribute 1, launched in 2021, combining transparent mechanics, three-dimensional construction and hand decoration in a contemporary design.
What is special about the AMW21 movement?
The AMW21 is a hand-wound calibre built around Armin Strom’s motor-barrel concept. The manufacturer says this arrangement optimizes the transmission of energy from the mainspring and associates it with a 100-hour power reserve. That is a manufacturer-stated specification, not an independent performance measurement.

Armin Strom’s current calibre page lists 25,200 vibrations per hour, 21 jewels, 135 individual parts, a 33.50 mm diameter and a 4.20 mm height. The 2024 launch release instead gives a total of 137 components. Because the sources use different counts and labels, the figures should not be treated as interchangeable or silently reconciled.

The current product page gives the more precise case height and water-resistance figures above; the launch release uses rounded or alternate units. These are published specifications, not a claim that the watch has been independently tested.

How much did the Tribute² Copper Edition cost?
Armin Strom’s 2 December 2024 press release stated a launch price of CHF 25,000. Monochrome Watches reported CHF 27,000 in its launch coverage, so published launch figures conflict. Neither figure establishes a current asking price, resale value or present availability.

The official product page currently says “Out of stock” and directs U.S. customers to contact the sales team. The original edition was limited to 10 and offered exclusively through Armin Strom; the out-of-stock label does not establish whether a particular example could later appear through a retailer or on the secondary market.
