Frédérique Constant and Bamford Watch Department describe it as a 100-piece limited edition. The official product pages establish its specifications and listed prices, but provide no independent performance testing or hands-on impressions.
What makes this Highlife collaboration distinctive?
The collaboration’s defining contrast is a matte black finish against bright turquoise details. The official US listing calls the 41 mm case crystallized titanium with black DLC plating. Frédérique Constant says the titanium is heated to 1200°C and slowly cooled to produce a crystallized appearance; that is the brand’s description of its process, not independent materials testing.
The black dial has turquoise accents, and the watch is topped by an anti-reflective, double-domed sapphire crystal. The result is a darker, more graphic take on the Highlife Chronograph Automatic design rather than a change to the basic chronograph format.
Case, dial and movement specifications
| Specification | What the official listings state |
|---|---|
| Reference and edition | FC-391BBL4NH1C; limited to 100 pieces, according to Frédérique Constant and Bamford Watch Department. |
| Case | 41 mm round titanium; the Frédérique Constant US listing specifies 14.62 mm thickness and black DLC plating. |
| Lug width | 25.5 mm, per Frédérique Constant’s US product details. |
| Dial and crystal | Black dial with turquoise accents; anti-reflective, double-domed sapphire crystal. |
| Movement | Automatic FC-391. Bamford identifies it as Swiss-made and lists 26 jewels and a minimum 60-hour power reserve. |
| Functions | Hours, minutes, seconds, date and mechanical chronograph. Bamford specifies a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and small seconds at 9 o’clock. |
| Water resistance | 10 ATM / 100 m, as listed by both official product sources. |
The two listings describe the movement’s reserve and chronograph layout in more detail than the Frédérique Constant US specification summary. These are manufacturer-published figures, not independently measured results.

Three straps come in the set
The package includes three strap options: black rubber, turquoise (also described as aqua) rubber, and a black leather strap. Frédérique Constant specifies the third as black calfskin with a nubuck finish; Bamford describes it as leather. The official US summary fields identify a rubber strap, while the collaboration description lists the full three-strap set.
Listed price and availability vary by market
When accessed for this article, Frédérique Constant’s US product page displayed a price of $4,995 and marked the watch sold out. Its Canadian product page displayed CA $6,995 and also marked it sold out. What the official descriptions do—and do not—tell you
George Bamford describes the design as breaking from tradition and emerging “darker, sharper and completely reprogrammed,” in a statement attributed to him by Frédérique Constant. That language captures the collaboration’s visual intent, but the official pages do not establish how the watch wears, how legible it is in different conditions, or how it performs in independent testing.
For a direct comparison with another Highlife chronograph, the useful points to check are case material and thickness, dial treatment, movement and chronograph layout, strap or bracelet package, water resistance, edition size, and the price and availability in the same market. The official listing identifies another standard Highlife Chronograph Automatic, but the available specifications here are not a full, like-for-like comparison; do not assume other variants share this model’s materials, dimensions or strap set.
