The Grand Seiko SLGH021 pairs a light-green, landscape-inspired dial with the brand’s high-frequency Calibre 9SA5 and an Ever-Brilliant Steel case and bracelet. Grand Seiko lists it as a 1,000-piece limited edition; that edition size does not indicate whether any examples remain available.
What makes the SLGH021’s dial distinctive?
Grand Seiko says the dial’s new molded pattern and light-green color express the scenery of Genbi Valley in Iwate Prefecture. Its appearance shifts with the angle of light, so the texture and color are the defining visual features rather than a printed landscape image. The company describes the valley as a “Place of Scenic Beauty and Natural Monument” in Japan.
The Iwai River runs through the valley, where Grand Seiko says its mechanical watches are made. In a June 24, 2026 collection update, the company described Genbi Valley as stretching for more than two kilometres along the river near Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi. That later collection context does not establish current availability for the SLGH021.
Case, bracelet and wearability
The case and bracelet are made of Ever-Brilliant Steel, which Grand Seiko says it used for the first time in the Evolution 9 Collection with this model. The brand describes the stainless-steel material as highly corrosion-resistant, with a white shine; it also claims its PREN is 1.7 times that of steel typically used in luxury watches. That comparison is the manufacturer’s claim, not an independent test result.

The 40 mm diameter is only one part of fit: the 47 mm lug-to-lug measurement and 11.7 mm thickness also matter when judging how the watch will sit on a particular wrist. The official specification gives a 22 mm band width. These figures describe dimensions, not a guarantee of fit; trying it on is the most reliable way to assess comfort.
Calibre 9SA5: high beat and an 80-hour reserve
The SLGH021 is powered by Grand Seiko Calibre 9SA5, a self-winding mechanical movement that can also be wound manually. Grand Seiko identifies it as a 36,000-beat-per-hour, or ten-beat, movement and lists approximately 80 hours of operation when fully wound.

The official page gives two different accuracy figures for different contexts. Its mean daily rate is +5 to -3 seconds per day, measured before the movement is assembled in a case under controlled test conditions. Its separately stated normal-usage accuracy is +8 to -1 seconds per day. The latter is the figure identified for use; the two should not be treated as interchangeable guarantees for an individual watch.
Grand Seiko also lists magnetic resistance of 4,800 A/m. The official specification is the source for these figures; they are not independent measurements.

Official specifications and collection context
Grand Seiko identifies the watch on its SLGH021 product page as “Evolution 9 Collection Hi-Beat 36000 80 Hours SLGH021.” Its June 24, 2026 Evolution 9 update discusses later refreshed models and another Genbi-inspired creation. That update offers collection context, but it is not a current stock notice or a full specifications comparison with those later releases.
