Blancpain’s green Air Command flyback chronographs pair a titanium 42.5 mm model, reference AC02 12B53 63, with a 36.2 mm version, reference AC03 12B53 63. Both have sunburst green dials, calf-leather straps and 3-bar water resistance. The larger watch uses caliber F388B with a 50-hour power reserve; the smaller uses caliber F188B with a 40-hour reserve. Blancpain announced limited production of 200 and 100 pieces, respectively, on 22 October 2024.

What changed with the green Air Command editions?

The October 2024 release brought a camouflage-green colorway to two Air Command flyback chronographs. Blancpain described the launch as the first time the models had been offered in this distinctive green. The cases are Grade 23 titanium, according to the brand’s launch material, and both watches pair a sunburst green dial with a calf-leather strap.

Blancpain presents the collection as inspired by a legendary 1950s pilot chronograph used by aviators to chart their course. That is the manufacturer’s account of the design’s inspiration, rather than independently established provenance. The brand’s announcement also describes a bidirectional countdown-type titanium bezel with ceramic insert, luminescent numerals and markers, vintage Super-LumiNova on the hands and hour/minute numerals, and a glass-box-shaped sapphire crystal.

The dimensions, movement specifications, reserve, water resistance, lug widths and strap details are listed on Blancpain’s 42.5 mm AC02 product page and 36.2 mm AC03 product page. The 5 Hz versus 3 Hz frequency difference is a technical distinction; the published specifications do not establish that it will be noticeable in ordinary wear.

The US prices are values displayed on Blancpain’s US product pages when checked, not guaranteed or necessarily current prices. Blancpain notes that price may vary with the strap fastening; confirm the current regional price and chosen clasp configuration on its Air Command pages.

How the flyback chronograph works

A flyback function lets the wearer reset and restart a running chronograph with one press, rather than stopping it, resetting it and starting again through a sequence of three presses across two pushers. Blancpain describes the movements as using a column wheel and vertical clutch. Its press material says the F388B’s 5 Hz frequency enables tenth-of-a-second accuracy. These are the manufacturer’s explanations of the mechanisms and their operation.

Which size makes more sense?

Choose the 42.5 mm AC02 if

  • You want the larger case and a 22 mm lug width.
  • You prefer the F388B movement’s stated 50-hour reserve and 5 Hz frequency.
  • You are looking for the edition with the larger announced production quantity: 200 pieces.

Choose the 36.2 mm AC03 if

  • You want a smaller-diameter, thinner case: 36.2 mm across and 11.00 mm thick, compared with 42.5 mm and 14.00 mm for the AC02.
  • You prefer an 18 mm lug width and the F188B movement.
  • You are looking for the edition with the smaller announced production quantity: 100 pieces.

These are concrete specification differences, not a guarantee of how either case will fit a particular wrist. The product pages give diameter, thickness and lug width, but the supplied official specifications do not provide a lug-to-lug measurement.
