What is the Montblanc 1858 Automatic Date 0 Oxygen?
MB134339 is a date-equipped, automatic watch in Montblanc’s 1858 collection. Montblanc describes it as a 41 mm bronze-cased watch “totally devoid of oxygen”; Monochrome’s first-look coverage calls the launch model the Cupro Aluminium version. These are the respective sources’ descriptions, rather than an explanation of a change in the watch’s construction.
The 0 Oxygen name refers to Montblanc’s case description. The supplied product listings do not provide further technical detail about the oxygen-removal process, so the name alone should not be read as a broader claim about the watch’s materials or performance.
Case and materials
The case measures 41 mm across and 11.3 mm thick, with 100 m water resistance. Monochrome describes slim, curved lugs, brushed and polished surfaces, a fixed bezel with a brown ceramic insert, and a domed sapphire crystal. Montblanc’s current product pages list the case as bronze, whereas Monochrome identifies the model as cupro aluminium.

Monochrome describes cupro aluminium as an aluminium-and-copper alloy that is more resilient than bronze and resistant to corrosion and rust, while still able to develop patina. Those are Monochrome’s material-performance claims; Montblanc’s current listings do not detail the alloy or make those claims.
Dial and display
The brown grained dial fades in a gradient, or sfumato, treatment. Rose-gold-coated Arabic numerals and cathedral-style hour and minute hands contrast with beige luminous material. A railway-style minute track frames the dial, with the date displayed in a framed window at 3 o’clock.

Monochrome notes that the dial carries the Montblanc inscription rather than the mountain-separated historical logo it says appears on other 1858 models. The result is a restrained face that keeps the date legible without adding a second subdial.
Movement and functions
Montblanc specifies an automatic MB 24.17 calibre with hours, minutes, seconds and date functions. Monochrome identifies the movement as based on the Sellita SW200-1 and reports a 38-hour power reserve, 28,800 vibrations per hour and 26 jewels. The official product listings confirm the calibre name and functions but do not state the base calibre or reserve.

Strap and clasp
The watch is supplied on a brown gradient calfskin strap with beige stitching. Montblanc calls it interchangeable sfumato calf leather; Monochrome describes the strap as interchangeable and reports a stainless-steel folding clasp with fine adjustment and cupro PVD treatment.
Launch price and current regional listings
Prices vary by market and date. Monochrome reported launch prices of CHF 3,420, EUR 3,900 and USD 3,965. Its article page shows 07/08/2025, a date format that does not establish whether the date is 7 August or 8 July. Montblanc’s current regional product listings display $4,500 in the US and CHF 3,615 in Switzerland; those are present listing prices, not launch prices, and may change.

What stands out about this first look

The 41 mm case, 100 m water resistance and automatic date movement make the specifications straightforward to assess; the material description is less straightforward because the launch coverage and current official pages use different terms.
For a buying decision, verify the case-material description and regional price with Montblanc for the market where you plan to purchase. The reported launch figures and current official listing prices are distinct observations, not a single universal price.
