The 42 mm steel chronograph pairs an openworked El Primero movement with a central seconds hand that completes one rotation every 10 seconds, allowing the wearer to read tenths of a second on the chapter ring. The specifications below are ZENITH’s published claims; no hands-on testing of the skeleton model is established here.
What is the Zenith Defy Skyline Chronograph Skeleton?
It is a skeletonized addition to the DEFY Skyline Chronograph line, announced by ZENITH for LVMH Watch Week on January 21, 2025. The steel case is octagonal, measures 42 mm, and is topped by a bezel with 12 facets. ZENITH describes alternating brushed and polished surfaces that emphasize the case’s angular shape. Sapphire crystals at the front and back expose the movement.
The openworked dial’s geometric cutouts draw on ZENITH’s 1960s double-Z logo. Three contrasting grey azuré subdials are also openworked, while the hands and applied baton markers use Super-LumiNova, according to the manufacturer.
How does the 1/10-second chronograph display work?
ZENITH identifies the movement as the automatic, skeletonized El Primero Calibre 3600SK. Its operating frequency is 5 Hz. The central chronograph seconds hand makes a full rotation every 10 seconds rather than the usual 60 seconds, so its progress can be read in tenths against the chapter ring. In ZENITH’s words, “Its central seconds hand completes a full rotation every 10 seconds instead of the standard 60 seconds.”
That mechanism explains the scale’s intended readout; it does not, by itself, establish measured timing accuracy or real-world chronograph performance. ZENITH also states that the winding system is automatic and bidirectional and that the watch has an approximately 60-hour power reserve.

What colors and straps are offered?
The January 2025 release describes black and blue versions. In each, the openworked dial, main plate, bridges, and star-shaped oscillating weight are rendered in matching colors. Each is described with an integrated three-link steel bracelet and an additional star-patterned rubber strap matched to the movement color. A button on the case back lets the wearer swap the bracelet for that strap. The release describes this as the watch’s strap system; it does not establish compatibility with generic straps.

For collection context, ZENITH published a video on April 29, 2024, about the standard DEFY Skyline Chronograph, describing its 42 mm steel case and El Primero 3600 with a 1/10-second indication. It is not footage of the skeleton reference and does not constitute a review of this model.
