Garmin announced the Enduro 4 and Approach S72 on October 6, 2026, but the watches are built for different jobs. Enduro 4 is the endurance-focused model, with 50% more RAM than Enduro 3, 64 GB of memory and Garmin’s claim of 30% faster map panning. Approach S72 is a golf-first smartwatch with biometric and on-wrist swing metrics; its green-contour data for select courses requires an active Garmin Golf Membership.
What’s new in the Garmin Enduro 4?
Garmin positions Enduro 4 for endurance athletes and multiday adventurers. Its headline hardware and navigation changes are 50% more RAM than Enduro 3, 64 GB of memory for maps, music and data, and an updated map engine that Garmin says enables 30% faster panning for built-in routable maps. The announcement does not state the Enduro 4’s absolute RAM capacity, and the map-panning figure is Garmin’s claim rather than an independently verified result. Garmin’s Enduro 4 announcement
A new perspective map view is intended to show more detail both close to the wearer and farther ahead. Garmin also introduces Garmin Epic, which lets users group activities across days, weeks or months into a story in Garmin Connect, add photos, share it and review health and performance information across the selected period.
Training and activity tools
Garmin lists more than 100 activity profiles and highlights several training additions or expansions:

- AutoSelect mode uses SatIQ technology to dynamically determine the GPS mode necessary to maximize battery life without compromising positional accuracy
- The rugged, lightweight design won’t slow you down, and the light UltraFit nylon band provides a secure, comfortable fit during all of your activities
- Navigation tools help you find your way with preloaded TopoActive and ski maps
- A superbright LED flashlight (twice as bright as the fēnix 7X multisport GPS watch) offers variable intensities with a strobe that matches your running cadence; red safety light mode helps you keep an eye on your immediate surroundings while running at night
- Grade-adjusted pace-based workout targets and grade-adjusted rolling pace for training on hills.
- Stamina zones and a stamina curve.
- Indoor-rowing insights that include VO2 max and a power curve.
- Rucking features that let users change pack weight during an activity and set targets such as calories burned.
These are capabilities described by Garmin; they have not been independently tested here.
Case, materials and water resistance
Garmin’s U.S. announcement specifies a 51 mm case, a Power Sapphire scratch-resistant lens, titanium bezel and fiber-reinforced polymer case. The watch weighs 66 g, has a built-in white and red LED flashlight and carries a 10 ATM water-resistance rating. Its moisture-wicking ComfortFit Fabric Band is QuickFit-compatible. - Take on the elements with a titanium bezel, scratch-resistant sapphire lens and built-in LED flashlight to light up the dark; UltraFit nylon band provides long-distance comfort - even in punishing conditions
- Up to 90 days of battery life in smartwatch mode (assumes all-day wear with 3 hours per day outside in 50,000 lux conditions) and 320 hours in GPS mode with solar charging (assumes continuous use for entire period in 50,000 lux conditions) - all with an always-on display, so you’re ready to take on the toughest challenges
- Preloaded TopoActive maps are optimized for outdoor activities to help keep your adventures on track
- Dynamic round-trip routing allows you to set a target destination for your run, bike or hike; Enduro 3 will continually adjust the route to get you back home on schedule
How long does the Enduro 4 battery last?
Garmin’s battery figures are conditional estimates, not a promise of the same runtime for every wearer or GPS setup. It claims up to 320 hours in activity mode when extended-battery activity mode is selected, assuming continuous use for the entire period in 50,000-lux conditions. Its up-to-90-day smartwatch-mode estimate assumes all-day wear and three hours outdoors per day in 50,000-lux conditions. Garmin’s Enduro 4 announcement
What does the Approach S72 add for golfers?
Approach S72 is Garmin’s separate flagship golf-watch launch. It comes in 43 mm and 47 mm sizes, with AMOLED displays, a ComfortFit fabric band, titanium bezel and sapphire lens. Garmin says its golf biometric data can show how heart rate changes before and after shots and can be reviewed after a completed round.
