Garmin’s latest listed software for the fēnix 7 family is version 27.18, including the 7S, 7X and Pro models. Garmin says it fixes shutdowns caused by navigation features and includes other device fixes. A Garmin staff reply also says the update addresses crashing concerns, but Garmin’s 27.18 changelog does not specifically identify a Connect IQ crash fix.
What is the latest update for the Garmin fēnix 7?
Garmin’s Japanese software listing identifies version 27.18 for the fēnix 7, 7S, 7X and their Pro variants, with a listed date of September 9, 2026. Garmin notes that publication dates can vary by a few days due to maintenance, and availability can differ by region or device.
The release is being distributed in stages, so the version listed by Garmin may not yet appear on every watch. Garmin’s forum announcement said rollout began at 50%, with the percentage expected to increase over time. That is the initial rollout status reported in the announcement, not a guarantee of current availability on an individual watch.

Does the fēnix 7 update fix Connect IQ crashes?
Garmin staff said on October 1, 2026 that version 27.18 “includes a number of fixes including for crashing concerns.” However, the 27.18 changelog does not say those fixes specifically target Connect IQ apps. Garmin’s forum changelog for an older version, 19.41, does mention a Connect IQ application crash fix; that older entry is not evidence that 27.18 includes the same fix.
If your watch is crashing, installing 27.18 is reasonable when it becomes available, particularly if the shutdown occurs while using navigation. The published information does not establish that this release resolves every crash cause or every Connect IQ app crash.

How to check for and install 27.18
- On the watch: open the watch menu and choose Check for Updates. Garmin’s staff response recommends this route.
- On a computer: connect the watch and check for updates using Garmin Express.
- Charge before updating: Garmin’s Japanese software page advises charging to 100% before updating through Garmin Express and before an automatic update starts through Garmin Connect.
If 27.18 is not offered, the staged rollout may not have reached your device yet. Check again later rather than assuming the watch is already eligible or that the update has been withdrawn.

First confirm the installed software version in the watch’s system information and compare it with 27.18. If the watch is already on 27.18, note whether the failure happens during navigation or while using a particular app: Garmin specifically lists a navigation-related shutdown fix, but does not publish a universal fix for all crash scenarios.

For a Connect IQ app crash, the available 27.18 notes do not confirm a dedicated app-crash fix. The watch is Connect IQ compatible, but compatibility alone does not establish that a particular app or crash has been addressed by this firmware. Record the app and circumstances of the crash and consult Garmin support if it persists.
