The differences are more than color: the watches use distinct subdial shapes, case thicknesses and reported launch prices, while the blue model’s official listing supplies a full specification sheet.
Which Citizen Ana-Digi Temp models are in the Playground Edition?
The pair is part of Citizen’s Record Label line. Notebookcheck reported on February 28, 2026 that each reference would be limited to 500 pieces and sold in Japan. Citizen’s official product page confirms the 500-piece quantity for the blue JG2120-73L. The edition continues the Ana-Digi Temp’s analog-and-digital format, giving the familiar gadget-watch layout a bright, playful treatment.
Yellow JG2170-59Y
The JG2170-59Y has a yellow color scheme, round subdials and a vintage Citizen logo on the face. Notebookcheck reported a thickness of 8 mm and a Japanese launch price of ¥36,300. Citizen product details for this reference were not available in the sources cited here, so those distinguishing details and the price are attributed to Notebookcheck.
Aqua-blue JG2120-73L
The JG2120-73L pairs an aqua-blue finish with square subdials. Notebookcheck describes a separate bezel and decorative holes in the stainless-steel band. Citizen lists a 33.4 mm case width, 9.7 mm thickness and ¥40,700 price for this model.

- The new watch is an update to a previous Ana-Digi model, this time introducing sleek screw details on the gray IP bezel, a new tapered bracelet design, and a footprint of 33.4mm in width by 45.4mm in length.
- It also includes the digital time, day, date, and temperature, making it a unique and stand-out timepiece ready to fight for the Rebellion.
- 50M Water Resistant and 5 Year Limited Warranty
How the two models compare
| Reference | Color and dial details | Case dimensions | Reported Japanese launch price |
|---|---|---|---|
| JG2170-59Y | Yellow; round subdials; vintage logo on the face (Notebookcheck) | Thickness: 8 mm (Notebookcheck); case width not stated | ¥36,300 (Notebookcheck, February 28, 2026) |
| JG2120-73L | Aqua blue; square subdials (Notebookcheck) | 33.4 mm wide and 9.7 mm thick (Citizen) | ¥40,700 (Citizen; also reported by Notebookcheck) |
The launch prices are historical Japanese retail figures, not a guide to current resale prices. The blue model’s listed price and stock status can also change; its official Japanese listing showed “out of stock” on October 5, 2026. Citizen’s listing says that a missing cart option can reflect the end of a sales period, depleted inventory or store-only sales, so that page does not establish that every route to a watch has closed.
What features does the blue JG2120-73L have?
Citizen lists the JG2120-73L with quartz Caliber 8989 and an approximate two-year battery life. Its feature set makes the watch a compact multi-function instrument rather than a conventional three-hand design:

Citizen’s page also displays a three-year international warranty and says Japanese domestic warranty coverage can extend to five years with registration within one year of purchase. Warranty terms depend on location and eligibility; check the terms for the country and seller involved.
What is the Ana-Digi Temp format?
Citizen describes the Ana-Digi Temp as a popular model introduced in the 1980s. Its defining idea is visible in the name: an analog display shares the face with digital readouts and practical functions. Citizen’s 2021 Record Label announcement identifies the line’s chronograph, alarm, thermometer and calendar functions, and documents Caliber 8989 with approximately two years of battery life for the models listed then.
Rank #3
- Round silver-tone watch featuring white dial with stick indices, luminous hands, and mini date window
- 39 mm stainless steel case with mineral dial window
- Movement: Conventional Battery G111, Japanese quartz movement with analog display.
- Croco-embossed leather band with buckle closure
- Water resistant to 50 m (165 ft): In general, suitable for short periods of recreational swimming, but not diving or snorkeling
The Playground Edition is therefore a color-focused continuation, not evidence of a wholesale redesign of the Ana-Digi Temp. Citizen has also used the line for themed limited editions, including Star Wars watches in 2021 and Japanese railway-anniversary models in 2022. Those releases show a history of playful treatments, but do not establish where the 2026 pair can be bought.
