Google releases Find Hub app for Wear OS: what it does and how to use it

Google’s Find Hub app is now available on supported Wear OS watches, letting you look for compatible phones, earbuds, accessories and tracker-tagged items without reaching for your phone. From the watch, Google documents options to play a sound, mark an item as lost, open directions to its last-known location and, where supported, view a map or factory-reset a device. The exact list depends on the watch, the item and its tracker compatibility. The Wear OS release was reported on December 17, 2025, while Google’s current help pages describe how the app works today.

Open it from the watch’s All Apps list, select an item and use the actions shown for that item. Finding a lost Wear OS watch itself requires the right Google Account, Location and connectivity setup; Pixel Watch 3 also has a Find Hub network-participation setting.

What is Find Hub on Wear OS?

Find Hub is Google’s device-and-item location service, formerly associated with Find My Device. Its Wear OS app puts a watch-sized view of supported devices and tracker items on your wrist. Google’s Wear OS instructions say the list can include Google Pixel devices, Fast Pair accessories such as earbuds and items containing compatible trackers.

This is not a universal inventory of every Bluetooth product nearby. An item appears only when its hardware, account, software and Find Hub support line up. Google uses “supported” and “compatible” language in its documentation and does not publish one complete compatibility matrix for every Wear OS watch, tracker and action.

  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

The app is useful in two situations: finding something that is probably nearby, and checking the last place Find Hub recorded when the item is no longer connected. It is a companion interface, not a guarantee that a disconnected item can be located precisely.

What can I do from a Wear OS watch?

Select an item in Find Hub and the watch presents the actions available for that item. Google’s Wear OS help page documents the following capabilities.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Capability What it does Important qualification
Play a sound Requests an audible alert from a supported phone, accessory or tracker-linked item. The item must support the action and be reachable under its current connection or Find Hub state.
Mark as lost Changes the item’s status so it is treated as lost in Find Hub. The option appears only for items for which Google enables it.
Directions Opens directions to the item’s last-known location. A last-known location must be available; directions do not prove the item is still there.
Map view Shows a map for an item when Google provides map data for that item. Map availability varies by device, tracker and connection state.
Factory reset Starts the documented reset flow for a supported device. Reset is destructive and is not a universal option for trackers or accessories.
Nearby status Can show “Near you” or “Last seen near you,” plus a last-seen date and time when available. These labels describe Find Hub’s recorded state, not a distance measurement.

Google’s broader Play listing also describes map-based locating for phones, tablets, headphones and accessories, including some devices that are offline; sound playback for a nearby device; remote securing or erasing of a lost device; and live-location sharing. Those are general Find Hub app claims. The Wear OS help page is the stronger reference for which controls Google specifically documents on a watch, so do not assume every phone-app command is exposed on the watch.

Google says Find Hub network location data is encrypted and not visible even to Google, according to the Play listing. That statement concerns the Find Hub network service generally, not a promise that every item supports network finding.

How do I open and use Find Hub on my watch?

The basic workflow is short, but the result depends on the item’s compatibility and the information already stored in Find Hub.

  1. Wake the watch. Press the crown, side button or tap the display according to your model.
  2. Open the All Apps menu. Use the watch’s app launcher rather than the separate “Find my phone” shortcut.
  3. Tap Find Hub. Google’s Wear OS instructions identify this app by name.
  4. Choose a device or item. Review the list of supported Pixel devices, Fast Pair accessories and tracker-linked items.
  5. Read the status. Look for “Near you,” “Last seen near you,” a map and the last-seen date and time when Google has those details.
  6. Choose an available action. Depending on the selection, you may see sound, lost status, directions, map viewing or a reset control.
  7. Follow the on-screen confirmation. A reset or other security-sensitive action can affect the device immediately, so verify the selected item before confirming.

If an item is absent, changing screens repeatedly will not make it appear. Check the Google Account, location permissions, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi state and the item’s compatibility first.

Which devices and trackers appear?

Google specifically identifies Google Pixel devices, Fast Pair accessories such as earbuds and items with compatible trackers as examples. The wider Find Hub service covers phones, tablets, headphones and accessories, but the watch interface may expose fewer controls than the Android app.

Compatibility has several layers:

  • Watch support: The Wear OS watch must be a supported model running an available current operating-system version.
  • Item support: The phone, earbud, tablet or accessory must participate in Find Hub or use a compatible tracker.
  • Action support: Sound, directions, lost status, maps and reset are not necessarily offered for the same item.
  • Account and network state: The item must be associated with the Google Account and have enough recent or current connectivity for Find Hub to show useful data.

Google’s May 13, 2025 Android Blog post described integrations involving July and Mokobara luggage, Peak skis and Disney-themed Pixbee tags, and said UWB-enabled tags would be available first on moto tag. That post describes plans and availability at that time, not a universal promise that each product or region currently works from every Wear OS watch. Check the tracker maker’s current compatibility information before buying one for this purpose.

Can Find Hub locate a lost Wear OS watch?

Yes, but Google lists specific prerequisites. A lost watch must be signed in to a Google Account, have Location turned on, have been recently connected to a phone by Bluetooth or Wi-Fi and run the latest operating-system version available for that watch. The phone must also have Location and Bluetooth enabled, and its primary Google Account must be set up on the watch.

Google’s Pixel Watch help explains what location you should expect:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • If the watch and phone are currently connected, Find Hub can show the watch’s current location.
  • If the watch was recently connected but is no longer connected, Find Hub shows the last location where the watch and phone connected.

That distinction matters when a watch is left in a car, office or hotel. A map pin can be accurate for the last connection and still be stale by the time you arrive.

What extra setting does Pixel Watch 3 need?

Google specifically instructs Pixel Watch 3 owners to configure participation in the Android Find Hub network. The documented choices are “With networks in high traffic areas only” or “With network in all areas.” Select the setting that matches your privacy and coverage preference, then keep the watch signed in and location-enabled. Google does not state that this exact menu is present on every other Wear OS model.

What is the difference between Find Hub and “Find my phone”?

Find Hub is the broader item-location app. The older “Find my phone” watch shortcut is a simpler command that rings the phone paired to the watch.

Feature Find Hub app Find my phone shortcut
Primary purpose Manage and locate supported devices and tracker items. Make the nearby paired phone ring.
Items shown Phones, Pixel devices, Fast Pair accessories and compatible tracker items, subject to support. The connected phone only.
Location information Can show a map, last-seen time or directions when available. No broader item map is required for the ring function.
Phone conditions Depends on the item’s Find Hub support and recorded connection or network data. Phone must be powered on, connected to the watch over Bluetooth and close enough for the sound to be heard.
Muted phone behavior Depends on the selected item and its supported action. Google says the phone rings even when muted or set to vibrate.

Use “Find my phone” when the problem is simply a misplaced nearby handset. Open Find Hub when you need to inspect several devices, a tracker tag or a last-known location.

When was the Wear OS release announced?

9to5Google reported the Wear OS app release on December 17, 2025. Its release coverage described a “My devices” list, last-seen time, battery details, a map view, Google Maps directions and controls for sound, securing, directions and factory reset. Google’s current Wear OS help documentation is the better source for present-day behavior, while that report provides the release context.

The Google Play listing showed an update date of October 6, 2026 when checked. App features and menus can change, so the wording on your watch may differ from an early release screenshot or from another Wear OS version.

What should I check before relying on Find Hub?

Set up the watch while it is in your possession. The following checklist prevents the most common “nothing found” situation.

  • Sign in to the same primary Google Account on the phone and watch.
  • Turn on Location on both devices.
  • Keep Bluetooth enabled on the phone and allow the watch to connect by Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
  • Install the latest Wear OS update available for the model.
  • For Pixel Watch 3, choose a Find Hub network participation option.
  • Pair trackers through a Find Hub-compatible setup rather than assuming any generic Bluetooth tag will appear.
  • Open Find Hub once before an emergency so you know which devices and actions are actually listed.

Why does the watch show an old place?

The most likely explanation is that the watch is not currently connected to the phone. Google says the service then reports the last location where the two connected, with the date and time when available. Treat that pin as a lead, not proof of the watch’s present position.

  • Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft

Why is there no sound button?

Sound is item-specific. A tracker or accessory can appear in the list while lacking a sound command, or the item may be offline and unable to receive the request. Check the item’s compatibility and try again when the watch reports a current connection.

Why can’t I reset or erase an item?

Reset and erase controls are security-sensitive and are not offered for every product. The Wear OS page documents factory reset only “where applicable,” while Google’s Play listing describes remote securing or erasing as broader app capabilities. Use the Android app or the device maker’s recovery instructions if the watch does not present that control.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Support on Ko-Fi

Do I need to buy a tracker to use Find Hub?

No. Find Hub can list supported Google devices and Fast Pair accessories without an added tag. A compatible Bluetooth tracker is optional for keys, luggage or other objects that cannot run Google software themselves.

If you do add a tracker, verify that its manufacturer supports Google Find Hub and that the specific Wear OS watch can display it. Google’s tracker-partner announcements show that integrations are expanding, but they do not make every Bluetooth tag interchangeable.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What are the practical privacy and reliability limits?

Find Hub is most useful when you prepare before losing something. Location services, account association, recent connections and network participation all affect what the watch can show. A last-known location is inherently historical, and “near you” is a status label rather than a guaranteed radius.

Google’s Play listing says Find Hub network location data is encrypted and not visible even to Google. Availability of network-based finding, map data and remote commands still varies by device, tracker, software version and region. Keep those limits in mind when deciding whether a tracker is suitable for high-value luggage, keys or equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use Find Hub on a Wear OS watch without my phone nearby?

You can open the watch app and inspect information already available on the watch, but current commands and location freshness depend on the item’s connection or Find Hub network data. If the watch has not recently connected or synced, the displayed place may be unavailable or old.

Will a compatible tracker work with every Wear OS watch?

No. Tracker compatibility is determined by both the tracker’s Find Hub support and the watch’s supported Wear OS implementation. Google’s help page does not provide a universal model-by-model matrix, so confirm support for the exact watch and tag combination.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What does “Last seen near you” mean in Find Hub?

It is Google’s status label for an item whose recorded location is near the watch or phone context shown by the service. It is not a measured distance and does not confirm that the item is still in that place.

Does Find Hub replace the old Find my phone control?

No. The dedicated shortcut remains a quick way to ring a nearby paired phone, including when that phone is muted or vibrating. Find Hub is the broader app for multiple devices, accessories and tracker items.

How current is the Wear OS Find Hub app?

The Google Play listing displayed an October 6, 2026 update date when checked. Menus and supported actions can change with later app and Wear OS updates, so use the controls shown on your watch as the final authority.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
