At $299, the 45mm Wi-Fi Google Pixel Watch 4 is $100 below its $399 launch price and a compelling deal for Android owners who want a full smartwatch with Fitbit and Google features. But that price is not confirmed as a live offer today, and Google’s Pixel Watch 5 is due in stores on August 20, 2026. Buy the Watch 4 only if you find the right new model at that price and are comfortable choosing last year’s generation.
What the $299 deal actually covers
The reported $299 offer is for the 45mm Pixel Watch 4 with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth—not the LTE version. Google’s U.S. launch price for that configuration was $399, so $299 represents a $100 reduction, or about 25%. Deal coverage reported the price at Amazon; other deal listings have also shown $299 at Best Buy. The reports described it as a record low at the time, but that does not establish today’s price or guarantee that every listing is the same offer.
Google’s own $100 watch promotion ran from July 12 through August 2, 2026. As of August 16, the available information does not confirm that $299 is a live, universal price. Check the retailer’s final checkout price and listing details before buying: confirm it is a new 45mm Wi-Fi unit, note who sells and ships it, and review the return window and warranty. A headline price may instead refer to a different size, an open-box unit, or a third-party seller.
The $299 price was reported by TechRadar and Android Headlines. Google’s promotion dates appear on its offers page. Those records are useful context, not a promise that the discount is still available.

What you get for the money
The 45mm Watch 4 is a full Wear OS smartwatch, not just a fitness tracker. It combines Google apps and notifications with Fitbit health and activity tracking, GPS, NFC payments, and Gemini access from the wrist. Its larger case also offers more screen area than the 41mm version, which may be preferable for reading notifications and navigating apps.
Display and hardware
Google specifies a 45mm AMOLED LTPO display with up to 3,000 nits peak brightness, an always-on option, and a 1–60Hz refresh rate. The watch uses a Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 platform with a machine-learning co-processor and has 32GB of storage. Its case is rated 5 ATM and IP68 for water and dust resistance; those ratings do not mean it is suitable for every water activity or environment. Google lists a replaceable battery and a serviceable design, a practical improvement over earlier generations.

Battery: useful, but not a multi-day endurance watch
Google claims up to 40 hours for the 45mm model with the always-on display enabled, and up to three days in Battery Saver mode. These are estimates under Google’s testing assumptions, not a guarantee of two full days for every owner. LTE use, GPS workouts, music streaming, notifications, health sensors, and other settings can shorten runtime. Expect frequent charging; buyers who want week-long battery life should look at a different category.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)

Health features and subscriptions
Core watch use does not require a paid health subscription: ordinary timekeeping, notifications, apps, and workouts are distinct from premium coaching content. Some advanced coaching and health features may require Fitbit Premium or Google Health Premium, and names, trial terms, and benefits can change. Check the current product page and the specific checkout offer rather than assuming a trial or a particular ongoing price is included. Health tracking is not a medical diagnosis, and feature availability can depend on region, settings, and connectivity.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. The important catch: Pixel Watch 5 is about to arrive
Google announced the Pixel Watch 5 on August 12, 2026; launch coverage reports store availability beginning August 20. That makes the Watch 4 an outgoing-generation purchase, not simply a discounted current model. The cited coverage reports a starting price around $399.99 for the 41mm Wi-Fi Watch 5, but the available information does not establish a complete, official U.S. configuration-by-configuration price and specification comparison. Do not assume unconfirmed Watch 5 details from rumors.

At a $100 saving, the Watch 4 can still make sense if its features suit you and you value the larger 45mm screen over having the newest model. If the Watch 5 costs only about $50–$75 more in the size and connectivity you want, waiting to compare them directly is the safer choice—especially if longer resale or software-support runway matters to you. No specific support duration is established here, so do not buy on an assumed number of update years.
For timing and launch coverage, see Android Central and Axios. TechRadar’s launch coverage reports the approximate 41mm starting price; treat it as secondary reporting, not a substitute for the live listing.
Choose based on how you will use it
Buy the Watch 4 if
- You use Android and want Google apps, Fitbit tracking, notifications, payments, and smartwatch apps rather than a basic tracker.
- You prefer the 45mm display and can find a new Wi-Fi model at $299 from a seller with a clear return policy and manufacturer warranty.
- You usually carry your phone and do not need independent cellular service from the watch.
- You are comfortable with frequent charging and are content to buy the previous generation just before its successor reaches stores.
Wait for the Watch 5 if
- You are shopping after August 20 and can compare both models directly.
- The price gap is small enough that having the newest generation is worth more to you than the discount.
- You prioritize resale value or want the longest available support runway, without relying on an unverified support-year promise.
- The Watch 4 listing is refurbished, from an unclear seller, or does not clearly identify the 45mm Wi-Fi configuration.
Consider another kind of watch if
- You use an iPhone: the Pixel Watch 4 is designed for Android phones, not as an Apple Watch alternative.
- You want week-long battery life, advanced training analytics, or rugged outdoor features; Garmin’s range is a more natural category to compare.
- You mainly need activity and sleep tracking in a smaller device rather than apps, calls, maps, or Gemini; a Fitbit tracker such as Charge 6 may fit better.
Check compatibility, connectivity, and total cost
- Phone: Google says the Watch 4 works with most phones running Android 11 or newer and requires a Google Account and the Pixel Watch app. Confirm your exact phone is supported in Google’s compatibility details.
- Size: Make sure the listing says 45mm. The deal under discussion is not a blanket price for every size.
- Connectivity: Wi-Fi/Bluetooth is not LTE. The 45mm LTE model launched at $499, compared with $399 for 45mm Wi-Fi. LTE can support more phone-free use, but cellular service may add a recurring carrier charge; check carrier compatibility and plan terms.
- Subscription: Check whether the particular offer includes a trial, which features it covers, and what renews afterward. Do not treat premium coaching as necessary for basic watch use.
- Seller and returns: Verify condition, seller, warranty, and return deadline before paying. A low price is less attractive if it comes with unclear coverage or a short opportunity to return it.
Google’s original U.S. launch prices were $349 for 41mm Wi-Fi, $449 for 41mm LTE, $399 for 45mm Wi-Fi, and $499 for 45mm LTE, according to its launch announcement. These are launch prices, not current retailer quotes.
