Which size and material suit you?
SBGX355: the larger titanium option
At 37.0 mm across and 44.6 mm lug-to-lug, the SBGX355 has substantially larger listed dimensions than the STGF385. Its high-intensity titanium case weighs 80 g according to Grand Seiko. Consider its diameter and lug-to-lug measurement together when judging fit, especially if you prefer a compact watch; wrist comfort and appearance still depend on wrist shape and personal preference.
STGF385: smaller, in stainless steel
The STGF385 measures 28.9 mm in diameter, 35.4 mm lug-to-lug and 8.8 mm thick. Grand Seiko lists its weight as 72 g. Its smaller proportions make it the more compact of the two by the published dimensions, while its stainless-steel case and diamond-set bezel give it a different look from the titanium SBGX355.

What makes their Snowflake dials distinctive?
SBGX355
Grand Seiko says the SBGX355’s snow-white dial depicts wind-shaped snow in the Hotaka peaks near the Shinshu Watch Studio. The brand describes a silver-plating process and says the dial’s pure-white appearance is achieved without white materials or pigments. Its product page uses the heading “A dial depicting wind-blown snow.”
STGF385
Grand Seiko describes the STGF385 dial as depicting a snowy Hotaka landscape, with a Snowflake pattern and blued-steel seconds hand. The bezel is set with 44 diamonds. The company presents the dial and bezel together as a more jewelry-like interpretation of the Snowflake design.

Quartz movements, accuracy and practical details
The SBGX355 uses Grand Seiko quartz caliber 9F62 and has a date display. Grand Seiko states that its battery lasts approximately three years. The STGF385 uses quartz caliber 4J52; the cited product information does not state a battery-life figure for it.
Grand Seiko lists ±10 seconds per year accuracy and 10 bar water resistance for both references. These are the manufacturer’s published specifications, not the results of an independent test. Water resistance is a rating, not a guarantee that a watch is suitable for every water activity; follow the brand’s care guidance for the specific watch.

Which Snowflake should you choose?
- Choose the SBGX355 if you want the larger 37 mm case, high-intensity titanium, a date display and the 9F62 movement.
- Choose the STGF385 if you prefer the smaller 28.9 mm case, stainless steel and a bezel set with 44 diamonds.
- Compare fit in person if you are unsure: the 8.3 mm difference in listed diameter and 9.2 mm difference in lug-to-lug are meaningful, but measurements alone cannot predict how a watch will sit on every wrist.
Are these newly released watches?
The official product pages confirm both model references and their specifications, but do not establish launch dates. A Grand Seiko UK video published on March 22, 2024 includes both references among several Snowflake models; that appearance does not establish that the two watches were announced together or identify their first release date. Prices and availability depend on market and can change, so check Grand Seiko or a local authorized retailer for current information. The video is available on Grand Seiko UK’s YouTube channel.
