The Habring² Doppel-Felix is a manually wound split-seconds chronograph with a 42 mm stainless-steel case and a manufacturer-listed 48-hour power reserve. Habring² says its movement is developed and produced in-house and its case is made in Austria; those statements do not establish that every component is Austrian. This is a specification-led review: no independent timing tests or personal wear experience are available to assess here.
What the Doppel-Felix does
A split-seconds chronograph, also called a rattrapante, lets the wearer compare two elapsed times that begin together but finish separately. The Doppel-Felix has a central chronograph seconds hand and a split-seconds hand; the latter can be stopped to record an intermediate time while the main chronograph continues, then brought back into alignment. Habring² lists a 30-minute counter and a small running-seconds hand as well.
The movement is manually wound. The current collection page names the calibre A11R, or A11RD for the pointer-date version. It lists hours and minutes, small seconds, stop-seconds hand, split-seconds hand, and a 30-minute counter. The date version adds a pointer date. Dial versions and date choice
The current product description lists a silver galvanized metal dial with sunk registers, rose-gold hour markers and polished rose-gold-plated hands. It describes a telemeter scale or date indication, making the date and non-date configurations the main choice to check when evaluating a specific watch.
Habring²’s 2018 English brochure gives additional historical context: its date version used a pointer and large date figures around a raised date ring, while the version without date used tachymeter and telemeter scales. The brochure also describes satin silver or grey/anthracite faces and leather straps. These are historical catalogue details, not confirmation that every dial or strap remains available. What “Made in Austria” means here
The Austrian connection is supported by Habring²’s own statements, but should be scoped carefully. In its 2018 brochure, the company says the A11 movement in the Doppel-Felix was developed and produced at Habring², and says the 42 mm case was manufactured in Austria. The same brochure called the A11 the only manufacture calibre made in Austria at that time; that is a dated manufacturer claim, not an independently verified industry-wide finding.
The 2020 collection brochure identifies Habring Uhrentechnik OG in Völkermarkt, Austria. Taken together, these sources support describing the movement as developed and produced by Habring² and the case as Austrian-made. What this means when considering one
The maker’s specifications establish the basic proposition: a manually wound rattrapante with a 30-minute register, in a 42 mm steel case, offered with or without a pointer date. They do not establish accuracy in use, chronograph performance under testing, service history, or current transaction value. Those depend on the individual watch and evidence from its seller or a qualified watchmaker.
- Check the configuration: confirm whether the watch is A11R or A11RD and whether its dial has the date or scale layout you expect.
- Assess fit: 42 mm is the listed case diameter; try the watch on if possible, since diameter alone does not describe how it sits on a wrist.
- Review condition and service records: request documentation for the exact watch rather than treating the manufacturer’s component count or specifications as evidence of its present condition.
- Verify seller and terms: ask about authenticity, return terms, warranty, and any included documentation. The cited manufacturer material does not establish current price or availability.
The 2018 brochure listed €7,750 for the version without date and €8,250 for the date version. These are historical brochure prices, not current offers or a guide to today’s market value.
